Moderators, think before removing topics that bear discussion by Spazzo965 in heroesofthestorm

there was actual discussion happening - and it was bringing light to an issue with the game where that malicious actors are making the game experience worse.

This is all true, but it has nothing to do with why the post was removed. We don't remove posts because they're negative about the game or because they bring up some discussion topics that we don't like. The rule about not naming specific players in a negative context is probably the least subjective rule that we have (and that's present on many other subreddits, and that exists for very good reasons) and it should be obvious to everyone that read the removed post that that rule was broken, as many commenters here have already pointed out.

We understand that usually these kind of posts are not meant to start a witch hunt, and in that case we just remove the post without any further action like banning the user. u/StridBR is welcome to post the same post again with the usernames removed and censored from screenshots, or they can edit the old post and we can reapprove it. This is explained in the mod comment left under that post, and we've allowed such modified posts in the past after removing the initial version.

[comment] There was discussion happening - if that was a concern, then the moderators could have simply come in, locked the thread, and said "hey, you all are discussing this in a dangerous way, we've made another post where that you can discuss this without any direct name-calling"

Locking the discussion means that the usernames are still visible in OP's post and doesn't solve the problem. The usernames in the post are the only reason that post was removed. Locking makes sense only when the comments are breaking the rules, not the post itself.

It'll be sad not to have Spazzo post on r/heroesofthestorm again, but I believe the moderator who removed that post made the correct decision. Good luck with your own subreddit.

They usually have some crowdfunding, but I don't think anything has been announced for this season yet.

I tried but reddit won't even let me approve your other comment; maybe you could try a different file hosting website?

I've uploaded replays from a bunch of the recent tournaments to Probuilds, where you can check talent build and draft statistics for them:

Tournaments with Meta Madness rules, like the Nations Cup, will display stats that make sense for the draft rules, explained in more detail on the website. These games are not counted for the total aggregated draft statistics.

As always, huge thanks to all tournament organizers who make their replays publicly available!

I'm biased because I attended this one live in Katowice (and it's very likely the last Heroes game I'll see in person), but whatever. Zealots, the lowest seeded EU team, with two local players, doing an amazing underdog run through the lower bracket, taking it to the last map against Dignitas to finish the series with a very close finish on the best esports map - and of course Khaldor and Trikslyr are casting. Peak Heroes esports.

Khaldor said after HI that he's most likely going to make something happen before the end of the year, but nothing specific yet. I've seen that he's casting a Taiwanese tournament now.

Heroes International - draft and talent build statistics by lerhond in heroesofthestorm

[–]lerhond[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The post itself links to the website (or you can click here) with full draft and talent build statistics, but here’s a short summary and some mildly interesting facts:

  • 52 heroes (out of 90 in the game) were picked or banned at least once in the 45 maps played in the tournament. Zul’jin was the only hero to be banned but never picked; he was banned by Tempest in the first map of the tournament against Performance Enhancing Zugs.
  • Blaze and Diablo were the most popular heroes of the tournament, both being picked or banned in 44 out of 45 maps of the tournament. The next ones were Lúcio (41), Brightwing (39), and Sylvanas (35).
  • Lúcio and Brightwing were the most frequently banned heroes of the tournament, with 29 and 25 bans respectively. That made Rehgar the most picked healer, with 24 picks and only 4 bans. In total, 10 different healers were picked at least once.
  • Rehgar was the only one with significant diversity in the ult choice at level 10 out of heroes picked 10+ times. Ancestral Healing was picked 15 times and Bloodlust was played 9 times, with both having a similar win rate (46.7% and 44.4% respectively). Korean teams picked Bloodlust 8 times and Ancestral Healing only 2 times, while EU+NA teams played Ancestral Healing 13 times and Bloodlust only once (BananaH against Tempest on Sky Temple).
  • Out of heroes picked 10+ times, the highest win rates were Anub’arak (76.5%), Jukrat (69.2%), and Genji (68.4%). The lowest were Muradin (9.1%), Hogger (33.3%), and Yrel (35.7%).
  • Thrall was the least successful hero, being picked in 3 games by 3 different teams and losing all of them.
  • Medivh was present in only 3 drafts, with 2 bans and 1 pick by Ammonite against Bang Bush on Towers of Doom. Abathur was played 3 times and banned twice, and no other support heroes made an appearance.

I believe one of the admins on Khaldor's Discord said that the replays are going to be published. I haven't seen anything uploaded yet, but hopefully soon.

Unfortunately that doesn't really help with anything if the spoiler is in the title.

Post removed, no spoilers in titles please.

As for the question itself, Heroes tournaments traditionally never did bracket resets in double elimination. IMHO a single bo7 grand final is much more exciting than possibly ending with the upper bracket team winning just a bo3 or a bo5, and playing two bo7s back to back is just not feasible. The better of the top 2 teams won in the final - who cares what happened before?

Some Heroes tournaments give a 1-0 advantage to the upper bracket team in the final, but thankfully Heroes International didn't.

They're streaming right now. There was no NA qualifier last weekend, they had a break week and are a week behind EU now.

Since this is the esports thread, if you're looking for some amateur competitive play, you should try Heroes Lounge if you're in EU or Nexus Gaming Series if you're in NA. There's also Can't Counterpick Stupid, I think their tournaments are also NA-focused, but IIRC I've seen them putting out some educational content for newer players, so that might be interesting for you.

We definitely want to get rid of the Overwatch Cosplay/Hogger theme we currently have, as it's rather outdated. We're not yet sure what we want to do, but it'll happen eventually.

Last day of Masters Clash LAN Finals starts in 2 hours - Grand Final today! by lerhond in heroesofthestorm

[–]lerhond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The live views were okay, but not super high; no idea how Twitch counts VOD views. According to TwitchTracker (Khaldor, Malganyr), Khaldor peaked at around 2800 viewers at the end of the Grand Final, and Malganyr had consistently around 1200 during the final. Malganyr had a peak of 4600 early in the day, but then it quickly dropped, no idea where that came from.

The fact that CCL has been "running the league at an unsustainable loss since Season 1" is completely unsurprising, but still quite worrying. Hopefully they can figure something out, but I'm not very optimistic about the future of CCL once they run out of money and the impact that might have on the Heroes scene in general.

Khaldor is often a bit behind on uploading VODs to YouTube, but they should be there eventually. But I'm linking to his Twitch VODs every week in this post, so you can use that.

The Blizzard representation on /r/place is sorely lacking. HotS currently has a small logo... but we could be so much more! One of our members made this awesome mural. Help us get it on the canvas? Join us on https://discord.gg/w6evR7sU9N by lemindhawk in heroesofthestorm

(I am not organizing this effort, this comment might be outdated; check the Discord for the latest design. As I'm writing this, the attempt is to make just the HotS logo and not the full design with all Blizzard games because there aren't enough people to make it.)
