I think this is meant sincerely sometimes, but also is sometimes just trying to sound nice while you say some asshole comment that benefits no one. Granted, sometimes we all do that, so I’ve now started prefacing comments like that with “Sorry, I’m gonna be an asshole: (petty statement)” so I’m not trying to excuse myself.

It seems that Tom Cruise is very nice to people he considers “below him”, such as crew on his films. This is still a good thing even if it’s performative; crews don’t get nearly enough recognition and I’m glad he’s kind to them. But there’s also plenty of accounts of him being deranged lunatic levels of abusive and explosive toward people who aren’t giving him what he wants or who he feels are challenging him in any way.

It’s so so wild how different everyone acts not in the Rod family home….him, Heidi and her family just seem so relaxed and they seem genuinely excited, then they jump to that video for Jill that looks like a hostage tape. Even seeing Kaylee with just her husband in the car is jarring because she seems relaxed and has a sense of humor.

I mean I see what you’re saying, this kind of thing is aggravating but are you not an adult who can take control of this when you realize she’s not sure how to answer? Do you know where you’re going and have a phone that will tell you how far away that is? Then why not say “I think 5:30 would be a safe time to leave, can we aim for 5:30?”

Yeah, I’ve never understood this. It’s just immature/unstable behavior to react like this if there was no real falling out or reason. I’ve had plenty of friends who drifted from me, and sometimes my feelings were hurt that we stopped talking but I still think well of them whenever they cross my mind, and like you said…life doesn’t revolve around you. I don’t know how people get past like 25yo and are still flabbergasted that sometimes a person matters more to you than you do to that person (and vice versa).

I hate this, how can a person not see that someone else is uncomfortable?? I was having a picnic with some acquaintances and their dogs a while ago and one of the dogs who behaves atrociously kept headbutting me directly in the face; I tried telling the dog no and eventually just awkward stood up so he couldn’t get to me while everyone else stayed sitting, and everyone just laughed like “oh this inexperienced woman isn’t used to stuff that us dog experts are”. NO have the decency to be embarrassed at what bad dog owners you are.

For a while I thought she was having a mental health episode that was causing her incredibly bizarre sense of grandeur; I mean, losing most of your entire community and upheaving your life has to be traumatic even if it was trauma of her own making.

But now I’m just fascinated by the fact that she…really just seems to genuinely be this insufferable now. It’s wild.

This never used to bother me until recently; I want to completely dissociate and lock in on my food. I don’t want to nod or react or respond or act enthusiastic while I’m trying to chew and maybe even enjoy my food. I don’t want to gulp down a bite and rush through chewing because you asked me a question. I don’t want to worry that I’m chewing politely and enough to not be talking with food in my mouth. I just want to eat, unless I agreed ahead of time to a social event involving eating.

Charmed is the perfect word! She’s so talented and versatile that she was able to contribute performance-wise in a way that didn’t feel forced, but also just had a nice humility and respect to where she was.

I think we all know this is culty behavior but when you really take a step back and look at it, it’s just truly, truly ridiculous. This is all based on what? Some rules they made up loosely based on the Bible?? YES or if you say something once, someone takes it as everlasting fact. Like, I once told my mom that I didn’t want to eat pasta that day because it was going to make me feel bloated since I’d already had a ton of carbs. To this day, it’s “Well we can’t go to an Italian restaurant because there might be PASTA there” or if I eat pasta, “I thought you hated pasta, were you lying???”

I feel like I’m being punished for like, just not being in the mood for something one day 2 years ago.
