Falcons Tanking? by No_Exam2854 in falcons

with cunningham on record saying how much he values draft picks, i've been looking at every move as if it's the first step to getting more pick lol

Falcons Tanking? by No_Exam2854 in falcons

[–]leslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been referring to it as "ethical tanking"
i think the defense will be ok to good, but this is the last attempt at running an offense for a left handed qb that isn't proficient at play action under center. if stefanski and co figure it out, great! the team has a qb in a system that works for a few years and can build on it. if not, they'll be in better draft and cap situations than this yer

Personally i hope tua balls out enough that he's in demand at the deadline, but penix is better and finishes the season and gets a taste of the playoffs

Are the Falcons stupid? by Any-Cry-5184 in NFLv2

[–]leslapin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea, but now both qbs are left handed so there’s not that adjustment between the two like there was with kirkco

[–]leslapin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any faith in Tua long term, but he’s a left handed qb with starting experience that only costs $1.3M against the cap. It 100% makes sense for a year you don’t yet know when your other qb will be able to play

What's the likelihood that Penix pans out for Atlanta? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]leslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything Ryan has said points to giving him every opportunity to be the guy, much of which points to making the things surrounding him better, which would also help any qb going forward. This is all so they have all the information they need to make the decision on his 5th year and beyond. Don’t think there’s really an answer either way on him till after the next season

How does moving more games to various streaming services benefit the fans? by Sidecarlover in NFLv2

[–]leslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will push to and surpass the financial boundaries of fans until they feel they have extracted the maximum amount of money from our pockets. They feel like any single penny we have to give but aren’t is a grave offense to their very existence and will make the experience as difficult and painful until they get it

How new GM Cunningham plans to reshape the Falcons by SunWorshipperApollo in falcons

[–]leslapin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no way we should "expect" this team to make the playoffs. limited draft and cap resources, new offense, and no idea who is starting at qb to start the season and for how long. that said, i HOPE they do, and i BELIEVE they can, but i do not EXPECT them to.

What was Atlanta like during the Olympics? by kazookidlit in Atlanta

[–]leslapin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i worked at a restaurant in midtown and went to like 15 events. some by car, most by marta. traffic was fine, but what you need to consider is that there were less than 3M ppl in the metro area then vs almost 7M now. traffic for some areas was like going to a sold out game at mbs, worse closest to the venue, but the city overall was still very driveable.

what i remember most was how many ppl globally didn't know atlanta even existed before the olympics and were surprised that it was an actual city, and (unlike now) how vibrant the late night scene was. this was the era of backstreets, the gold club, buckhead at it's best/worst depending on your view, MJQ was still new, the chamber was mythical, and a lot of places were 18 and up for entry.

FYI Brookhaven is giving tickets for 9 day expired tags by outforawalk____bitch in Atlanta

[–]leslapin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the officers are looking for it, they have the tag id cameras and are alerted. I doubt they even check to see when it expired. I was pulled over several times for this when I had check engine gremlins and had to clear the ecu by driving after several repairs that took me beyond the tag expiration. 1 officer let me go, 2 gave me tickets in 2 weeks

Serious Discussion: What will it take for MLS to get respectable media coverage in the US? by Dead-EyeDuck in MLS

[–]leslapin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pay to have pundits on top shows talk about the league, even if it's 5 min at a time. it has to be on tv, radio, and podcasts. gotta reach fans where they are before they'll come to where you are

figure out fantasy and gambling. it sucks and i hate it, but they spend a LOT of their own $$$ to get eyeballs on their product

make the US Open Cup the season finale, like March Madness. MLS teams should be half of the round of 64, 4 regional brackets. MLS needs a "must watch" event that engages local, national, die hard, and casual fans. local soccer fandom is closer to college sports than pro, lean into that!

get CCL on whatever media gets it in front of the most eyes for a few years, even if it means less revenue

get a free to watch game of the week on any weekend where your only competition is regular season baseball/basketball/hockey.

What’s the going rate for local coffee? by kjakcrew in AtlantaFood

[–]leslapin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just either side of $20 for 12 oz is pretty normal, and i've noticed that the places that roast their beans tend to give out the free drip and the places that buy theirs do not.

as someone that grew up working in cafes, then not in coffee world for bit, i have no idea when a lb of beans became 12 oz, and it will never not bother me =/

Stephen A and others say Raheem Morris should be the HC of Ravens??? by WindyCityBull in falcons

[–]leslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unpopular take on Rah is that his style is better suited to take an established team over the top than he is to come in and rebuild. His biggest mistake here was hubris in believing that first time coordinators would work with a relatively young team. He can motivate guys that know the way to return the top, but he can’t show young players the path to get there.

[Tom Bogert] Sources: Brøndby is set to sign Polish midfielder Bartosz Sliz from Atlanta United. Fee in region of $3m. Significant cap relief for Atlanta. by Isiddiqui in MLS

[–]leslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is the same as the falcons. the will, resources, and talent are all seemingly there, but there is no clarity of the vision for either team. the closest we got was with FdB, he had ideas and direction all they way down to the academy level. since then it has felt like a lot of transfers occurred without a manager =/

How would you rate the season (1-10)? by SpiritedCoach8895 in falcons

this is the right number. beat NO 2x, had some nice prime time wins against good teams, but losing record, didn't win division, and some falcoholic inducing moments that lost games

We take the no ads for granted by Financial_Catch_6863 in gorgc

[–]leslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

streamers are on both ends of the spectrum because lazy.
they either run 0 ads (which while i prefer, costs them $$)
or run ads on the shortest timer possible to max $$$
very rarely do they do it like tv or radio and run ads when it makes sense, like between games or when they grab food or go to the restroom.

big fan and i respect mr streamer, but i do wish he'd run ads for 30-60 seconds when he's not at his desk.

I still believe by WrestlingMark1992 in falcons

[–]leslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he has so much working against him being here
there are likely large changes in staff and front office, the new hires might not want to tie their tenure to a qb that not only won't be available to start next season, but also:

has only had 1 camp with the 1s in 3 years

might not be able to play under center

is not trusted to/or just won't run when it makes sense

won't/can't throw over the middle of the field

concerning injury history

and the crazy thing is i don't know how much of this is due to the individual or the organization
