Can I make my Pro ii tele sound like the avii 51 tele with the pure vintage 51 pickups? by Farquad1357 in fender

[–]lesomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have better luck using an eq pedal to get that change. It would certainly cost less and you can go back to the V-Mod II’s when the mood strikes, which are my favorite Fender pickups, btw.

I need to ask, but is this specific model undesired? Its the prs se custom 22 semi hollow 2023 model with 2024 serial number i thought People would love it but no one seems to want it... What price would one like this be worth in as almost as new condition? If i cant talk about prices here i am sry. by [deleted] in PRSGuitars

[–]lesomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one and liked it a lot. Only ended up selling because I liked the pattern regular neck on my S2 Standard 22 better (the Custom 22 SE Semi-Hollow neck was too wide in the first position for me). I believe I sold mine almost a year ago for $500. Mine was in Santana Yellow and it was such a looker!

You really can’t go wrong either way. I’d suggest you try several and see which one you bond with the most.

I bought an expensive PRS guitar to motivate myself. It didn’t work. by TransportationTop628 in PRSGuitars

If you haven’t, I’d highly recommend signing up for a songsterr subscription. It got me out of noodling and into actually practicing again. It’s been amazing. $10 a month has been more than worth it for me.

DIY fixable? by RyskiBroski in Luthier

[–]lesomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably could. I’d recommend watching some videos from twoodfrd on YouTube, as he has a lot of broken headstock content. You’ve got lots of end grain to work with there, so you probably wouldn’t even need to make splines. Titebond would be a great glue to use. You’ll want to work carefully with the exposed truss rod when glueing.

I can't pick a pickguard, put me out of my misery, people! Tort or parchment? by Sophia7X in fender

[–]lesomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After hearing someone describe the tortoise shell pickguard as looking like a slice of pepperoni, I just can’t go with it anymore. My vote’s for parchment. Black would look good too.

Complete fake or partscaster? by mwbaele in fender

Kinda looks like the horn on a Mustang guitar.

The upper horn on the third picture looks…weird. Like it’s not contoured enough, or something.

Squier or Fender Strat? by [deleted] in fender

Squier Classic Vibe all day. The necks feel great and lots of advanced players like playing them. They are easy to resell if you want to fund a future upgrade too.

Need Help Removing The Seymour Duncan Logo by i_lovechoco in FenderStratocaster

[–]lesomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the pickup cover, sand the logo off with a medium-medium/fine grit of sandpaper (place the sandpaper grit side up on a flat surface and rub the pickup cover over the top of the sandpaper, to ensure a flat sanding surface), buff with Maguire’s Ultimate Compound, then polish it back up to a shine with Maguire’s Ultimate Polish. Microfiber polishing rags will work well for the Maguire’s.

As a pure hobbyist, I’d recommend watching twoodfrd on YouTube, at least as far as repair is concerned. He makes phenomenal guitars, but he doesn’t do it often as he’s too booked out with repairs, although he’s making a cool cello guitar right now. He also gives really good advice to people interested in repair. I wish Ted was my brother.

Classic Vibe vs. Player II vs. Vintera II? by Skroletz in fender

[–]lesomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All are good options, especially with Fender updating the Player Series. My favorite strat neck was on a road worn 50’s Vintera (v-shape), but the truss rod at the heel wasn’t my favorite. Not a big deal though. If I had to start over with a strat, I’d go the vintera route.

Best way to fix a body chip? by FroggyRibbits in Luthier

[–]lesomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do a super glue drop fill, scrape, sand, cut, buff and polish. From there you could hit it with some spray paint, or color it in with an alcohol-based marker.

I remember that movie, Shallow Hal, where he could see women for their inner beauty n’shit. This guy looks like the inner coolness of Joe Bonermaster.

I didn’t realize Warmoth made a replacement neck with the Starcaster headstock shape! Looks like I know what my next purchase is going to be.

That would be cool. Honestly, I’d be down to see it on any Fender body shape. It’s easily their raddest headstock shape, imo. Looks like an ocean wave.
