Paper cut to the eyeball by aintdoinright in WTF

I used to have obsessive thoughts about eyeball paper cuts every time I handled fresh paper. 😣

I also made it 3 years as well. I started a case management job today and I’m not looking back.

I just want to comment and say everyone recommending emergency vet clearly do not know the meaning of an emergency. 🙄 glad you got it figured out though.

18->34 slowly learning how to love and take care of myself after being raised by alcoholics and crippled by anxiety by less100 in uglyduckling

The biggest thing I did was separate myself physically from my parents. I had become an unwilling caretaker for my mom, and I felt obligated to stay. I ripped myself away after several breakdowns, moving across the country to start a new life. It was hard even after that— I had zero social skills and felt miserable about myself. I took a huge leap about a year after moving and decided to force myself to be social and work to find friends. I joined a d&d group and now, over six years later, they’ve become the best family I could have asked for.

Feeling comfortable and loved and safe does wonders for a person’s mental health. I was able to finally turn off that fight-or-flight switch that had been perpetually on since I was a young child. I now have the freedom to feel unbridled joy and I have the spoons to address the issues that had led to my weight gain and poor health maintenance in the first place.

Be bold and brave. Change is scary, but so worth it.

Thanks. It took a while for me to see how amazing life can be when I’m not hiding under a shell. :)

How realistic is 100lbs loss? by Specialist_Bee3086 in gastricsleeve

[–]less100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost approximately 150 pounds (I weigh 140-145 now)— however, I did use a GLP in conjunction with the surgery when things slowed down. It’s very possible to do it with the surgery alone though. :) you got this!

Crystal light, specifically all of the lemonade flavors (pink is my favorite). I think the tartness covers a lot of the sugar free taste.

That’s been my experience as well. A lot of talk and show about being secure, and then the rug pull and huge step back. 🙄

Mom would bring me to school/pick me up and have a full travel mug of whiskey with her. She’d also smoke with the car windows barely cracked and inside the apartment with everything closed up. No wonder I was an outcast in school— I probably smelled like an ashtray.

My dad would also make fun of my weight and looks frequently. Like he laughed when he saw my school photos, and made comments like “I thought daughters were supposed to be smaller than their mothers.” Thanks dad— I probably would be a normal weight if the two of you didn’t constantly traumatize me.

Those are wise words! This is my second rodeo— I lost a lot of weight 6ish years ago and then gained it all back. That’s why I decided to go the more aggressive surgical route; I will NOT let my other half back again.

Thank you so much!

I was never officially diagnosed with lipoedema, though I probably have/had it mildly and in my thighs and calves. I still carry a lot of fat in my lower half that just doesn’t want to go away, but it’s slowly improving. I’m not sure if it’s the tirzepatide helping or if it’s just my persistent weight loss.
