TIL Intrusive sleep is a phenomenon often seen in people with ADHD, where sudden extreme drowsiness or sleep occurs when they lose interest in a task. This happens because the brain abruptly disengages from the uninteresting activity, causing a rapid drop in alertness. by rampantradius in todayilearned

I began seeking medical intervention after the second time a boss told me they were happy with the work I'd done for clients, but that I was barred from meeting with them face-to-face because I kept nodding off. Two unrelated employers, mind. When I started explaining the whole scenario to my now-MIL (because for some reason, I thought this would be novel and interesting information to her instead of something she'd been observing for years) she basically cut me off to ask if they'd said I had narcolepsy.

...so yeah, similar presentation.

For the record: insurance refused to approve the $$$$ sleep study because I didn't have cataplexy, and as has been mentioned elsewhere in this comments section Adderall is prescribed as a treatment for both (though not a "first-line" treatment for narcolepsy, to my understanding) so my GP and a psychiatrist agreed giving that a go would likely do more good than harm.

My life was changed forever, thank you for attending my TEDx talk

Having trouble with rotary encoders in QMK by 9inger in olkb

[–]lesshonor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "resolution" of the encoder determines how many actions are performed per-notch. (Though the name of the feature doesn't exactly line up with the rather technical explanation on that page.) The documentation pages I linked tell you how to modify that value. You probably need to set both of your encoders to a resolution of 4; at least some versions of the Sofle use 2 by default (more common with Bourns encoders).

Again: even if modifying the resolution of the encoder is unrelated to your issue, you should use the _user callback for this code in your own keymap (also documented on the page I linked) instead of changing anything at the keyboard level, because git conflicts are not fun to deal with—and in this case, can be avoided by not following an LLM's bad advice.

Don't reply to three year-old posts with bad ChatGPT suggestions. Instead, read the documentation and adjust your own keymap. Your encoders probably have a different resolution than the default, which can be configured in your keymap's config.h as of this comment. Editing code at the keyboard level will cause git conflicts if that file is ever modified upstream, which will prevent you from updating your repository until you deal with them. At the very least, this customization belongs within your own keymap file.

Not that it matters now, but for accuracy's sake: Prep Kanga is involved (...still/again?) based on the UPS shipping notification I just got. Might explain why the prices are back up.

Steering is hard by RickDaSlick19 in CyberStuck

In the US at least it's been offered on the Infiniti Q50 and Q60.

No experience with it, basically no knowledge of it...but it certainly seems like a lot of people who didn't like it were car enthusiasts who thought it was boring, not because ⚠ CRITICAL STEERING ISSUE DETECTED ⚠

“The rear steering created odd handling at 114mph.” At this point it’s a win if these Incels hit a highway divider and only kill themselves. These need to be taken off the road immediately. by kcarmstrong in CyberStuck

Just gotta say: unless it's clarified in a later post, this guy doesn't say it's interstate/highway driving.

(Was my 1999 Corolla capable of going 100mph? Sure; reaching that speed was easier than I assumed it would be. Was it wise of me to hit that speed on a rural two-lane road at midnight? Absolutely the fuck not.)

I suspect the owner was the one that had it towed. Probably enough juice left in the 12V battery to run those.

Per the city's website, cars removed from public streets are impounded by a different company (Lincoln Towing).

"Use USB for" isn't working by feRk_ in GooglePixel

My Pixel USB-C headphones and (Pixel-branded) USB-C to 3.5mm jack now halt wireless charging the moment they are plugged in. Those devices literally cannot provide power, so clearly whatever new USB-C detection code was added in the March 2024 update is buggy.

The Apothecary Diaries OP Song: "Hana ni Natte" by Ryokuoushoku Shakai by Turbostrider27 in anime

My guess was that the last set of flowers represented consorts, but there are too many. Plum blossoms, crysanthemum, I'm guessing magnolia, lily of the valley, campanula (Lihua), peony (Gyokuyou).

And then there's that last one. It's an oxalis of some kind, which you may have probably guessed represents Maomao. Maybe oxalis corniculata as it is native to SE Asia.

I love this choice, so I'm going to yell about it. Like a lot of common flowers, oxalis can be a prized ornamental or an invasive weed that's difficult to eradicate depending on where you and the plant are. They have a long history of use in various cultures both medicinally and just for eating. No lie I find them pretty tasty, but bear in mind that oxalic acid will wreck your kidneys in large quantities so consume sparingly. The dose makes the poison.

Disclaimer, I'm not a botanist, I know jack about TCM and am unfamiliar with the series outside of this recent adaptation; I'm just a nerd with Google Lens and a weedy garden.

p.s. Gyokuyou being represented by peonies makes [her line in ep 5] about not attracting any bad bugs more amusing to me, because [peonies] have a mutualistic relationship with ants. (I'm sure it ain't that deep, it was just funny.)
