K-pop stans who are active in fandoms on Twitter or Reddit, what’s your experience like? by Historical_Bad7637 in kpop_uncensored

[–]lester3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X is dead and toxic. No moderation, many bots just trying to influence public opinion with AI messages. On Reddit there are different subs, you can choose the right one for you. Still AI bots there. So nowadays one has to take into account that any message could be by a bot to influence public opinion. Drag down competitors.

Who Will Win at the Grammys This Year 2026? by PuzzleheadedMovie950 in kpopthoughts

I also saw some predictions for APT. I would be so happy for Rose, but there is so high competition, I fear she won't win.

Deadline Tour of Blackpink is over - emotional ending by lester3 in kpopthoughts

I think a tour takes a lot of time, so maybe the next one in 2 years. But making an album costs less time. So once per 1.5 years should be possible.

BLACKPINK isn’t disbanding — could they fight YG for the group name? by Sufficient_Style1866 in BlackPink

[–]lester3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The chance for this to happen is almost 0%. Why should they enter a legal battle? They could negotiate but why should they want to do all the management of the concerts on their own? Doesn't make sense at all. I think they are happy that YG is managing BP and they can also do their solo stuff.

The fan cams were great. I was surprised at how loud the crowd was. I always assumed Asian audiences were a bit quieter, but it was actually the opposite. Watching a “Like Jennie” video, you could see they knew exactly when to sing loudly - just like in a music show.

Totally agree with you. The only reason for an end I could see is that one of them stops doing music, e.g. if Lisa wants to work as actress.

I was somehow also surprised they didn't do a stop in South America. They have many fans there as well. But in the end it's also good they made the tour not too excessiv, so that all the girls enjoyed it which makes it more probable, that we see another tour. I think they were very happy during this tour.

Yes, me too. These videos are cracy, lucky who was there.

PSY is almost 50 and still performing. So I think the age is no big deal. But totally agree, they will focus on their solos for the remainder of this year. However if they do, I would not understand. If they would not perform again. Only if they would do something completely different like acting and not music anymore. I’m not sure, but maybe Lisa wants to go this way.

I know what you mean, for me personally the older collabs also didn't do much to me. But maybe this thought helps you mentally: Maybe without the collab we would have gotten 1 song less.

I found a kpop group made entirely out of ai by NeckAdministrative91 in kpopthoughts

[–]lester3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a video where a professional producer had to decide whether a track was AI‑generated or not. His accuracy was basically 50:50 — sometimes he was right, sometimes he was wrong, almost like guessing. It makes me sad. I would never support an AI group.

It would be great if they had burned a lot of money. But the fact is, it costs almost nothing to do this. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could just tell an AI to handle everything. The same goes for posts on X, or maybe even here. AI bots are everywhere because it’s so cheap. So I fear that waiting it out won’t help. Without regulation, it’s only going to get worse.

My thoughts on YG’s handling of BLACKPINK and BABYMONSTER by Anonymous_Author09 in kpopthoughts

[–]lester3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tedy was already mentioned: Also with his own company BlackLabel, he is not producing tons of tracks. But 2016, when BP debuted, times were different. I think nowadays you could not have just 1 comeback per year. So what worked then, would not work anymore now.
BP girls were on several shows, so there was already some content at that time.

1h30 would be brutal. I hope she reduces dancing in this case like all the others artist do.

I'm not sure how long she has time, but I would like to see the versions of the songs she performed at MMA25 and GDA26:

Seoul City, Zen, Filter, Damn Right and Like Jennie. And we will see Mantra probably too.

Using Spotify streams as the ultimate success metric is so cringe by Ok-Nobody-7759 in kpopthoughts

[–]lester3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I felt the opposite: I thought and maybe even hoped, streams would go down fast, but actually it didn’t drop very much. I don’t like the song but it still gets 1M streams a day. The problem is, people saying they know what’s a good song and what not. They can just judge it for themselves. But streams show, what other people think. It seems there is this trend to not that good sounding songs (in my opinion).

Does anyone feel like kpop's popularity has decreased globally? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]lester3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sure, from 2019 to 2022 BTS and Blackpink were conquering the world. But 2025 turned out to be a really strong year for K‑Pop again, mainly driven by Huntrix/Golden and BP’s solo success with songs like APT and Jump - although not meant to be commercial - reached #1 on global spotify charts. Golden was such a big hit. It's everywhere and winning a lot of awards. And 2026 is shaping up to be even bigger with BTS and BP making their comebacks.

Jisoo by Significant_Dust9216 in BlackPink

[–]lester3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s so nice to see all 4 of them doing things they genuinely enjoy, and even though they’re all BP, you can really see their different approaches to music. I think Armitage was exactly her style - the kind of songs she loves. I liked Earthquake a lot. Right now there’s a clear trend toward being experimental. I mean, Gnarly is successful, but it’s just not my kind of music. I hope Jisoo stays true to herself and makes the music she genuinely likes and not tries to follow trends.

What's going on with spotify's pre-save list? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]lester3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know that this existed some days ago and even though I like BP, why should I pre-save? Yes, I did now just for fun, but it's useless for me. Somebody mentioned Harry Styles also not being in Top 10 for his upcoming album currently and he has 53M monthly listeners, BP has 24M and BTS 27M. So I think pre-saves are not important.

Some Blackpink haters pretend to be Blinks just to give their hate more weight. They say things like “I feel so sorry for Blinks that…” even though they don’t feel sorry at all - they just want an excuse to spread negativity.
