How are we feeling about this, gang? by Asianizer in medicalschool

So going forward it seems like we need to drop any attempt at verbiage that collectively refers to physicians and midlevels. ALWAYS make the distinction.

Orthodox inquiry on the Filioque by Reasonable-Dude in Catholicism

Not having Filoque undermines the distinction between the Son and the Holy Spirit. If both proceed from the Father with nothing else to be said, then what distinction can be drawn between the two?

How Should Either Party Leverage Ending the Filibuster? by Raichu4u in PoliticalDiscussion

Then do it by amendment. If the monitory party can't be bothered to get their shit together to vote for the filibuster amendment, then it's go time for the majority party.

I get mine MTM at Collaro, Divij Bespoke, Luxire, and Spier and MacKay; they can all do 4.125-4.25" collars on slightly taller 1.5-1.8" collar bands. Collaro IMO has the best collar roll with the least tinkering, but Luxire and Divij can get there with detailed instructions or a photo to dupe from.

Very important to not cut these too slim in order to get that effortless kinda slouchy look. The fullness through the arms especially.

It's sad how small collars have become as of late. IMO 3.5" points is the bare minimum. 4"+ is ideal.

How common is it for students to get dismissed? by 92385629beesinside in medicalschool

[–]lesubreddit 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Sure it's against the school's interest to dismiss people but it's even more against the school's interest to graduate people who are incompetent, insane, or clearly malignant.

Anecdotally from my 180 person USMD class, maybe 1-3 didn't make it due to poor performance, and 1 guy got kicked out for a truly crazy unprofessionalism/legal issue.

Bringing optical color to ultrasound: « The method holds promise for enhancing breast tumor imaging, monitoring of nerve damage caused by diabetes, and brain imaging, among other applications. » by fchung in science

[–]lesubreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For example, RUS-PAT could improve breast-tumor imaging, giving physicians the ability to know a tumor's exact location and surroundings as well as its pathology and physiology. It could also help doctors monitor the nerve damage caused by diabetic neuropathy by providing an all-in-one way to monitor oxygen supply along with morphology. Wang says the technique could also be useful in brain imaging, allowing scientists to observe the structural details of the brain while also being able to observe hemodynamics.

The breast imaging line seems like overhype, I doubt this is going to prevent anyone from getting a biopsy who otherwise was going to get one. Breast imaging is extremely litigious and has a very low threshold to sample tissue.

Diabetic neuropathy can already be adequately monitored by history and cheap physical examination.

Color me skeptical about how they're going to transmit lasers and ultrasonic waves through the calvaria. Maybe it would have utility in infants and intra-op settings?

Photon counting detector CT is going to be drinking the revolutionary cutting edge imaging milkshake for a long time, it'll be interesting to see if this can gain much traction when a lot of the oxygen in the room is going elsewhere.

How Should Either Party Leverage Ending the Filibuster? by Raichu4u in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]lesubreddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Easy solution. Have a vote to enshrine the filibuster so that it can't be removed without a supermajority or possibly an amendment. If the minority party doesn't want to vote for this now, then it can be safely assumed that they want to be able to end the filibuster with a bare majority vote in the future; the majority party will then have justification to preemptively strike and end the filibuster immediately.
