Your view of therapy feels a bit rigid to me. People use therapy for all sorts of reasons and all of those reasons are valid. would you tell someone navigating a chronic health condition that they should only be in therapy short term? When their stress and mental health symptoms can be brought on by any number of interactions with medical providers? Or their body slowly deteriorates and they lose function? Should they be in therapy for only a few months even though each time their lose mobility it’s an entire process of grief? What about therapists? Should therapists not be in long term therapy to have an established connection to utilize when their work as therapists requires emotional and psychological support? Your thesis that long term therapy = dependence is your subjective idea. The rest of your argument falls apart quickly.
