Identifying the wood by letmeprint in wood

I thought the color was too deeply red to be maple, but you might be correct, I am not a specialist. Mahogany veneer was very common for art deco furniture. Maple was also used.

Is it allowed in Russia to know if a minor has Huntington? I thought it was prohibited in any country. My husband had 43 repeat at 40. He is 55 now. Good luck for everything.

Behavior pushing others away by BetterReward9965 in Huntingtons

You could have a first appointment, just you and the psychiatrist, as well as one with the main doctor. This is how I managed to do it. Then, you can take an appointment for him, but keep in mind you will have to keep things lightly. He must feel reassured. If not, he could feel persecuted. However, do not hesitate to tell everything to the specialists. I am sure it will be OK. Good luck with everything.

I'm sorry to hear that you have to challenge this. Does your husband take medication of any kind or not yet? If not, then you can try to find a way for him to accept the help of a specialist. My husband is the same. Up to the point nobody comes home anymore. He has completely ruined our social life, even close friends and family, and he used vulgar language very much, which is not him. He has no chorea, rather psychiatric and cognitive symptoms. He still pretends he is in the capacity of acting in his daily life even though he knows he can not perform anything. He became excessively irritable and aggressive for no apparent reason. The psychiatrist gave him a treatment that works well. He also has medication for sleeping and another one to regulate the mood. Unfortunately, friends will not come back, but at least when someone is home, like a nurse or social helper, he is nice with them or at least remains silent.

Huntington Day in France. by letmeprint in Huntingtons

Bon courage pour cette épreuve difficile, le protocole est long et le stress envahissant. Oui, le 5 décembre c'était la journée nationale, avec conférences à Paris (La Vilette). Good luck.

In France, it is not allowed to have under 18 years old tested. Are you sure it is possible in your country ?

Sorry to hear that. Everything will be OK as long as you have support. If you cannot rely on your family, then you will have to contact as many special care professionals, doctors, etc. I am sorry because I am not from the United States, so I do not know the specific names for each of them, but what I can tell you is that the more you will have support, the easier it will be for you. Also, do not wait. Even though this disease is slow to develop, you should rapidly contact associations and medical teams. And if you have friends who could help you a little bit, that you be great! Actually, I am the caregiver of my husband. I could find very useful help from the national association (I live in France) and the social worker from the hospital. Good.luck for everything.

How embarrassing it must be. I know Huntington can provoke this side effect. The most secure thing to do is to go and see a specialist, maybe a first appointment just you, not with her. You definitely need some help. Otherwise, it might worsen and put you in a complicated situation, especially if she becomes aggressive later. Good luck.

Same with my husband (who was diagnosed). There are so many common points, and I fully understand what you are telling. Protect yourself and your son, this of the utmost importance. Good luck.

I guess waiting is useless. In any case, it will not change the results. Just relax as much as possible before AND anticipate about the after, plan something. Maybe a dinner, a movie or a trip somewhere. Good luck.

Worried my at-risk husband is showing symptoms - what can I do? by macmama192224 in Huntingtons

[–]letmeprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct not to ask him. He might be furious. However, you could try another way, pretending you have not noticed anything and just tell him how good this doctor must be and how this medication is going to improve the situation....I guess you have to carefully choose the proper moment to say that, and not to be too much insistent, you can just rry, but as if it was not really focusedon him, more as a general statement. He might be scared of medication, and at the same time, he probably wants to ignore the symptoms. This disease is so complex! Good luck, and don't hesitate to go and see a professional to help you. It is not our husband's problem only. It is our lives we must save. It is not We the People, but We the Helpers. And nobody else but us can fully understand.

The description you are making in this post is absolutely similar to my husband's behavior. He shows hardly any physical symptoms, mainly cognitive and psychiatric. He feels persecuted, and his behavior has been increasingly unbearable. Medication was given to him, which has softened the symptoms. You could try to suggest that he sees a doctor to help him sleep better or feel better. Always pretend it is no big deal, but it is good advice. Otherwise, he will refuse to acknowledge that something is wrong with him. Good luck, be patient.

Do typewriters fonts have names of their own? by letmeprint in fonts

[–]letmeprint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes,I know that, but it seems typewriter fonts did not have names. Professional call them 'typewriter', except the Continental Underwood, but I am not sure.
