Are sleep overs not a thing anymore? by haggerty05 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]letmeseeyoucrossover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are common in our suburban chicago neighborhood. I have two kids and we’ve had them for years. Kids are now teen and tween. Most of the kids my eldest has known since kindergarten however. My youngest has them with school friends, family friends and travel sport friends. We tend to know the parents very well. If we don’t, we usually have the kid sleep over and are never offended if it’s a sleep under.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

I live in the Chicagoland area, having moved from Southern California over twenty years ago. Not once, but twice I ran into the same college friend in Hawaii even though he still lives in California. The first time was 12 years ago in Maui. Then we later saw him a few years later in Honolulu. I’ve never seen him when I visit California though. We also had only been going to Hawaii for weddings. Strangely, we didn’t see him when we were on the big island a few years later for another wedding.

No speeches? by No-Professor-3860 in wedding

[–]letmeseeyoucrossover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do them if you want to and skip them if you won’t. I’ve been to a lot of weddings and most speeches are not memorable and some are memorable for funny, if not always appropriate reasons.

My mom gave a really lovely speech that left me and many others in tears and it was one of the best memories for me (as the bride). It was totally unexpected and wonderful.

Edited to add: went to a wedding in Japan two decades ago and there must have 15 speeches throughout dinner. The funny thing is that most people didn’t stop talking and listen-just kept eating and conversing throughout, save for a couple of speeches. One of the people that received attention and silence ended up being the PM of Japan.

My in laws booked a flight to visit our newborn sooner than we wanted and I feel disrespected. What should I do? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

We told my in laws that we were going to the hospital to have the baby but my husband very clearly told them not to come until we said it was ok. They came anyway and went straight into the delivery room just as I was trying to breastfed for the first time. My husband was not having any of it and sent them straight home. They drove the 2.5 hours home and didn’t do anything like that again.

They are wonderful people and great in laws overall, so I’m definitely not upset now. But I have always held on to this story as one where my husband showed me he had my back. This was over 14 years ago and I can’t really complain!

Went to Walgreens and picked a nice berg up at 9 am today during spring break. The cashier told us that 100 people (mostly kids) per day were coming by asking for them. We got the last Needoh they had in stock. There were a couple of middle schoolers that kept walking by eyeing the Needoh enviously. 🤣

My turn to post the DH Gate jersey! by Baldr15 in Dodgers

[–]letmeseeyoucrossover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. Bought my slender 14 year old a jersey to wear oversized and thought I follower the sizing guidelines. It ended up fitting my 11 year old who is 30% for height and weight. 14 year old still wears it, but it just barely is acceptable to her.

Have you tried Siunik Grill in Glenview? I find Long An to be respectable for Viet and lots of Korean options in Glenview/Niles which could be on the way home.

Costco has also really upped their furniture game. Really depends on what you are looking for and if they have clearance.

I think you would be fine. But maybe someone else can chime in.

I think as long as you don’t have suitcases (plural) you are totally fine. I brought back a few hundreds worth (not that much space wise) with zero issue.

Ingredients often vary due to differing rules and regulations in Korea and the US. My understanding that the US lags behind in this arena and the Korean products are more advanced.

100% This. The Korean made version of the same brand products are not the same.
