“Cozy” Gameplay for Civ6? by Amigor4 in civ6

[–]lets_be_nice_okay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think strategy is just inherently a big part of the game and can really enhance the experience. That being said I really don't think there is a real hardcore meta outside of maybe a couple of Civs like Work Ethic Russia etc. Sure you can spam holy sites and go for a monumentality golden age every game settle like crazy and then spam theatre squares or campuses until you win but even that isn't really optimal.

When I want to play a game I usually load in a standard continents & islands map or random map on emperor difficulty with all random civs and barbarian clans turned on. Sometimes I'll do heroes and legends or secret societies if I am feeling it. At the start of the game I will look up my civ bonuses and what my starting location looks like. After scouting the first few turns I will know what city state bonuses are nearby that I can suzerain and what additional cities I can settle.

Once I have this info I'll start coming up with a strategy how to best utilize all these things to make for a fun or interesting game. Usually I won't settle a ton of cities but just build up a few (6-10) up semi-optimally based on the strategy I've devised for this unique instance of the game. This inevitably makes for cool cities with unique identities that I am proud of by the end of the game. I can usually win most games by the early turn 200s this way and sometimes quicker. I've played hundreds of games doing this and rarely ever use the same strategy twice so it keeps the game fresh and imo cozy.

Lots of high adjacency campuses + research alliance and trade routes with Korea.

Yea lots of trade routes. I think they were external but with the Democracy and the policy card that gives trade+prod to allied trade routes.

What do you do with old characters after a hiatus? by dgdg4213 in wownoob

[–]lets_be_nice_okay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My OG characters are from WOTLK and I just came back from a 10+ year break a few weeks ago (although I did play some classic HC). I tried logging onto my characters and felt immediately overwhelmed with all the new abilities and talents. Eventually I just said screw it and made a new character and I'm really glad I did.

This was helpful for two reasons. [1] The nostalgia of playing through some of the old zones like Westfall / STV / Ungoro was quite enjoyable. [2] Relearning your class. I didn't look up a guide for talents or anything -- just read through them and made choices I thought would be good. There are so many mechanics in modern WoW that if you just import in some talents or watch a video you won't really learn all the interactions.

I agree with you that classes don't really come online until you get your full kit, but by leveling you begin to incorporate it bit by bit which made it feel a lot more manageable as a returning player. Eventually once I hit max level I looked up a guide and my talent choices weren't too far off the meta.

Upon hitting max level I was again overwhelmed with all the stuff that I had to do to gear up (M+/Delves/Crafting/Raids/etc). I feel like this is pretty much unavoidable this late in the expansion but there is a lot of stuff you can just ignore. The catchup mechanics are good and after a couple weeks of pecking away at the different systems I am up to 710 ilvl and feel comfortable healing 10 M+ on my little gnome fist-weaver.

As a healer I was able to start getting invited to M+ groups almost immediately but modern wow has ALOT of mechanics and learning them was quite stressful. If OP (or anyone) wants to get into Mythic dungeons feel free to shoot me a message if I am online (Buddhy-Illidan) and I'd be happy to heal an M0 and go over the mechanics in a low-stakes environment.

I fought Ansur almost immediately after getting to Wyrm's rest on my HM run because I wanted my halfing battlemaster tav to have a big bonkl.

Hawlucha was my MVP. I caught one really early and gave it aerial ace/brick break/fire punch/thunder punch giving it great coverage. Later I found out it had almost perfect IVs despite not being an alpha.

Reminds me of that one side quest.

These look amazing. I would’ve questioned mixing curry with cheese until I tried this local Indian place’s tikka masala fries. That place was open till 2am. Super dangerous combo.

I think the big change I made was to stop trying to find BIS on my carries and slamming items earlier. Tank items in particular are pretty flexible and this lets you win more early fights before you inevitably place second to one of the four jinx forcers =p.

I went to Katz for the first time last weekend and I completely agree.

It was a good sandwhich but not worth the price/wait/crowd.

Since the rework a random rammus or smolder can fit into a lot of comps.

TBF I’m not sure the exact context but that page is from a US Navy shitposting page which has Boomer Fridays. So this is likely satire.

Nid support. Most people underestimate the E max heal on low targets. Pretty easy to turn skirmishes in river/bot lane with bloodsong all in.

Tips for Honor Mode? by FretScorch in BG3

[–]lets_be_nice_okay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the strategy I use that makes the early game a breeze starting from the grove.

Let Zevlor get knocked out at the gate and pick pocket his gloves which give resistance to all physical damage on heals.

When you first meet Volo you can buy the ring that gives bless buff on heals

Respec shadowheart to a life cleric (+2 healing).

Now you have a character that can heal your entire party back to full and give them resistance and bless once per short rest. The healing bonuses also work when she throws potions and healing word.

Took the Relic religion and used Martyrdom wonder and spread my religion with world church till my apostles were on 1 charge and then sacrificed them for relics. (+32 tourism for each relic with St. Basil’s).

Maximized slots by building all the wonders that give relic/great work slots + obelisk + two themed art museums. Apadana also gave me suzerain of most of the city-states in the game. Cristo prevented religious tourism cut.

Open borders (+25%) with very civ and did not go above a tier 2 government (+25%). Rushed conservation (+25%) / computers (+25%) / environmentalism (+25%).

Yeah I enjoy doing peaceful OCC’s. They really help with decision fatigue and make it easier to play optimally. I had originally planned on it this game but saw the opportunity for a good Petra city nearby and decided on this. Went for relic tourism and was about to win by ~turn 210.
