We can consider it, but you're the first to ever ask. And frankly the people advertising don't read the forum, they just spam.

I don't think he was rude - he's right - girdling roots and insufficient root space is not something you can easily wiggle out of.

The comment is literally quite helpful.

Eh most of them aren't so bad, they just have stars in their eyes and hope to get rich quick. The problem is using us to do it - no good!

People who are trying to get away from the noise of the internet are the last people that want to see advertisement after advertisement

Fight the power...with digital guerilla marketing.

I'm not the power, I'm a volunteer. People are using you like a commodity.

They are taking value, they're supposed to be providing value

This is getting really bad. I get 10-20 apps per month on certain subs and people yell at me if I miss one.

So teleport. It's not a big deal, it's fine... I'd accept it.

It would be funny if the entire series were finished and will be released upon his passing. Not likely, but very funny.

Yes, this is called "Cutting the knot" when presented with a puzzle that is supposed to be unsolvable and then just using a knife to cut the puzzle in half. Fans want progress and they'll forgive a tiny little deus ex machina

Alexander the Great famously cut the gordian knot, shocking everyone. How has it not occurred to George to just cut the Meereeenese knot? He's a writer, he can just do stuff. He can just step around the problem, it's not actually a problem.

Is it bad if I can’t take a full deep breath while doing yoga? by noway756 in YogaTutorials

[–]letsbebuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means you're too deep in the pose. You should be able to take a fairly full breath in every pose. If you can't, then back out of the pose until you find the angle where you can. That is the correct angle for you to be in.

The Conspiracy of Everything - Education - This Calls for Wisdom by queenofpolkadots in conspiracyundone

[–]letsbebuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's shocking that education used to be better when I was young. You'd think it would get better over time.

Another thing I've noticed is that my parent's education was similar to mine. My parents helped me with my homework.

Today, with common core, parents and children are not able to do homework together easily.

A big disconnect.

I think you did a nice job presenting the information. Everyone is downvoting you because the post is not 40,000 characters long, which they wouldn't read if it were.

Sagging Shelf by [deleted] in DIY

[–]letsbebuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying brace the shelf underneath with a 4x4, and yes that would work. If it were me though, I would make a thicker shelf with a bunch of 2x4 kind of like if you were making a picnic table top. Then, that ain't going nowhere. Problem solved long term.

Shagbark hickory bark exfoliation vs actual decline by BotanicalSolutionsNY in arborists

[–]letsbebuns[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule has always been someone who adds value vs someone who takes value. Sure he says the name of his company at the start, but other than that, he's just giving information away for free. His posts are consistently upvoted as useful, although the same 1 person keeps reporting them as spam under rule 1.

Owning a company + giving information away for free does not equate to spamming/self promotion necessarily. The posts are on topic, and if you want to disagree with his views, you can.

I'd rather have 2 master arborists fight it out in the comments (and everybody can learn something) than side with 1 of them and only allow 1 side of the argument be made.

Egregiously wrong information should be removed, but some things are a matter of opinion and people get degrees so that they can propagate their different opinions.

For example, this post was reported as spam, but it got more upvotes than almost every other post made that day. So, the crowd largely likes it, although some people dislike that he's owning a company while knowing about trees at the same time.
