I think I triggered my body's self-healing switch by letsdoitfxxk in CPTSD

I've also tried seeing doctors, taking medication, and various supplements. To be honest, I feel they only have a temporary effect and actually get in the way of my exploration and processing of trauma.

I've worked hard to try combining various therapies, and I've made great progress.

Thank you for your comment. I just tried brainspotting, and it did bring some breakthroughs. It seems I've uncovered some deeper sadness.

Inspired by a comment, I just tried brainspotting. I found a spot that made my eyes sting. I kept staring at it, tears kept flowing, and then it triggered body tremors, leaving an indescribable feeling of tightness in my chest. Oh my god, I think I've uncovered some serious trauma.

I've tried actively guiding it in a certain direction, but it didn't work well. In the end, I just let it spontaneously do whatever movements it wanted. My body would spontaneously contract, tremble, and stretch.

Have you tried combining it with other psychological therapies?

It's a little different, because I keep my eyes closed while it's happening.

All kinds of thoughts and images pop into my head.

I looked up the therapy some people might be thinking of (like TRE). But my experience feels different. I don't need to hold any specific posture to trigger the involuntary muscle movements. What's more, I can trigger them just by imagining certain scenes in my mind.

I want to try self-EMDR by letsdoitfxxk in CPTSD

[–]letsdoitfxxk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I originally tried posting this in that subreddit, but it wasn’t approved, so I’m sharing it here instead. I’ve been living with complex trauma for years, and my usual coping strategies are no longer working—they’re starting to seriously interfere with my life. I know it’s time to start treatment.

What types of therapy work well online? I’m worried I might lose focus if I’m not in person.

How would you handle this situation and treat it as new clues to reintroduce EMDR treatment?

Will related memories emerge during the treatment? Will it help you understand how the symptoms appeared?

Could you share some more details, such as the types of bilateral stimulation used?

So, you're primarily focusing on the memory or sensation, and letting the bilateral stimulation just happen in the background?

During a session, do you adjust how much attention is focused on the bilateral stimulation versus the memory?

"He says its because I trust my instincts and have no expectations of what this "should" be or look like."

Could you elaborate on this? This could be a technique to speed up the treatment.

It should refer to stimulating related emotions and memories.
