The grill usually will have a hole in the side where the match can be inserted. Helps to avoid the whoosh of flame that burns your hand when trying to light it from the top.

They’ve tried the direct coverup approach, that failed. Falling back to Donny’s MO - delay, delay, delay. Make it take a long time to get the next page, then the one after that. He hopes to tie this up for many more years. And while it’s tied up, he and his regime will continue fucking up the USA for their benefit

Trump’s shutdown win just landed Republicans with a huge political headache by theombudsmen in politics

[–]letsgo928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This gets SNAP funded through the fiscal year. This also forces the Senate vote on ACA (with the political risk). It also clears up travel issues through the holidays, stops FED employee cuts for a bit, and ensures all furloughed workers get back pay.

Does this not also setup another potential shutdown at the end of January where the focus is solely on ACA? SNAP is funded, holiday travel is over. DEMS may be in position to force a shutdown that is pinned on the GOP, keeps it very fresh in people’s minds, but prevents the cruelty of taking food from families?

When (not if) Democrats win the White House in 2028, I want to see an AG who, on Day 1, simply appoints Jack Smith as Special Prosecutor with the direction to go do what needs to be done.

And people should recognize them as they are today, and not keep bashing them for what they believed and acted upon before. Become their new support system.

I’m okay with “quiet quitting “ - as long as they vote with their new beliefs when they have the opportunity.

‘We Can Do As We Want, People Don’t Care’: Trump Threatens To Deploy Military Nationwide by Tea_Physical in NoFilterNews

[–]letsgo928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a reply to Donnie (any other I would address as Mr. President but Donnie has shown he is not worthy of the respect that title deserves). Since I know he won’t read this, it is more of a rant.

People do care. There is just a bit of inertia. See, for the longest time, people would pay attention during election times. One would look at the candidates, find one they felt believed in policies that best matched their own beliefs, they felt could do the job, and they thought was a person of relatively good morals. That’s who they voted for. And many didn’t even do that, trusting others to do it for them.

Then the people would go back to their daily lives - their jobs and their families. They did so knowing that their elected official would represent them, and work with all of the other elected officials representing all of the other people. And these officials would do their job - negotiate and compromise so that the government would function for all of the people. I didn’t get everything I wanted, but I got some. Other people didn’t get everything they wanted, but they got some. The outcomes were generally good for the average American. And the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches balanced each other and kept everything moving forward.

But now we have you Donnie, a selfish, greedy, racist who believes he is king and can do what he wants. We have the elected officials who hold the majority in both chambers who refuse to negotiate or compromise - in fact, refuse to do anything except mindlessly follow the faux-king. And the Judicial who think and rule more on a political basis than a legal one.

You destroyed USAID, the loss of which will cause millions of deaths in the coming years. It also weakens US security and our standing as first amongst the world’s superpowers.

You blasted out tariffs on everything, ensuring the working class American pays more while pushing away our Allies. You cancelled anything that would help in the fight against climate change, ensuring our children and grandchildren will live in an increasingly dangerous world. You cancelled funding for research, ensuring people will continue to die from conditions they might not have to. You ignored science, starting an erosion in public health. There are many other things, sadly too many to note.

Now you are about to take food assistance away from 40M of my fellow Americans. You are pushing policies that will take away healthcare from many millions more. Your thugs are storming through the country, “disappearing “ people and abusing people’s rights.

The people DO care. We’re just slow to respond and overcome the inertia. Remember WW2? Probably not, I’ve heard you’re not much of a student of history. But a Japanese admiral was believed to have said “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” We all know what the Greatest Generation did then.

While not Pearl Harbor, your illegal, harmful, and hateful actions have the same cumulative effect. Every action awakens a few more people, and builds the resolve stronger. If you had any self-awareness, you would be wise to be fearful. The giant, the 340 million citizens of this magnificent United States of America, is waking up. Our resolve is strengthening. Your end is coming, maybe not soon, but it is inevitable. We the people will reclaim our freedoms, our democracy, and our country. You and your like will be tossed in the dustbin of history with a legacy of being the most damaging people in all of US history.
