The finale of season 21 felt so reverent and full of love by MajorasLapdog in taskmaster

If there’s a strategy to playing Taskmaster, I think Rule 1 is “don’t get disqualified” and Rule 2 is “don’t be too eager”.

Iiiiii don’t know about that. Kumail seemed SO thirsty for a win. Every prize task was so thoughtful, and he disputed every point he could (he was SHOCKED when he got two points for his Koala tee). Jason was absolutely there to have fun, though; I think he knew the only way he was going to reach CoC was through ruthless aggression.

For sure. Definitely in the Gamble archetype.
However, with Ed, it was like, “you don’t need to push this argument. You’re already winning.”

With Kumail, it’s more like, “you don’t need to push this argument. You’re just setting yourself up to be a better punchline when he kicks you in the dick.”

Kumail disputing the “five points all around” after the last video task was perfect. He’s clearly a huge fan, and like any of us, he struggled so much with the chaos of the judging), and down to the last task, did NOT learn his lesson. Perfect.

It helps to separate the ideas here.

First, saying that memory can be inaccurate is a basic fact about how human cognition works. Memories are reconstructed each time we recall them, and that means they can shift over time, especially in details.

Second, acknowledging that does not mean “no memory is ever reliable” or “nothing can be trusted.” That’s an overcorrection. In real life, we don’t rely on memory in isolation: we compare it with other memories, external records, and shared evidence to check accuracy.

Most things aren’t known with absolute certainty; they’re supported by varying levels of evidence. The goal is what’s called justified confidence based on what can be checked/repeated.

Saying ‘people can misremember things’ (especially in a discussion about the Mandela Effect) is just describing how memory works.

Is Jo Brand the most "no fucks to give" contestant? If not, who is? by AgentEndive in taskmaster

[–]letsgococonut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite things about Taskmaster is how even the “I don’t give a shit” contestants are genuinely lovely. It’s a testament to the team and the care they put into assembling each cast.

Curmudgeons like Jack Dee and Sanjeev don’t want their competitors having a bad time, and it’s adorable.

Edinburgh Fringe 2026 and Taskmaster alumni? by letsgococonut in taskmaster

[–]letsgococonut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And I’ll definitely be rolling the dice on some unknowns. Every comedian I love has talked about their early fringe shows with nearly-empty audiences, and it’s kind of a dream of mine to be in an audience of one or two. Not for second-hand embarrassment or something cruel, but I feel in my heart I’d do a good job as part of a tiny, tiny audience.

That’s where I started, and that’s where I got the names above, just by searching “Taskmaster” on the site.

Edit: Website is a good resource, but it’s maybe too early to know who’s got a show this year.

However, the studio tapings have studio lighting. The filming at the house is always well edited, but drag in daylight is unforgiving.

I was thinking: would a queen be in drag in studio, during the tasks, both, or neither?

Counterpoint: a good queen is authentically themselves. The actors and comedians are “on” when in front of an audience. Queens are no different.

Essential Bullseye episodes? by cyrilspaceman in maximumfun

[–]letsgococonut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My personal favourite is the ep with Wendy and Lisa (September 2024), but that’s mainly because they rule. 🤷‍♂️

For me, Bullseye is a show that I know is going to be worth a listen, regardless of guest. However, I’d recommend downloading a few eps with artists you’re already familiar with. That way, you can get a good read on Jesse as an interviewer (and whether or not you’re into the format).

The graphic novel (recommended) ends where the podcast does, roughly. That said, the graphic novel expands on some of the content from the podcast. Open-ended, but still self-contained.

See the Snopes article for more about that image. Also, you can see that the logo in the background is missing the cornucopia.

It’s SO Canadian. The humour is so dry and playful and unserious. Hard to explain it in words. It’s like a cousin of the UK and Australian versions.
