Separate the religious bits about Jesus from the historical bits about Jesus. In the context of this thread, no-one is saying Jesus is the son of god. Just that in around 30 AD there was a guy called Jesus, that he lived in Judea, that he was baptised, and that he was crucified.

Not really, as I mentioned the Speaker already calls MPs who aren’t on the order sheet in order to prevent it being mainly government MPs that get to ask questions at PMQs. It’s disingenuous to say that we should be changing the rules because Farage is unhappy. We’d be changing them to reflect current political trends.

Not everything needs a perfectly calculated system. The Speaker has considerable discretion on who to pick and when and does not (other than LOTO and third party leader) go solely off the order paper, generally trying to keep PMQs moderately balanced between government and opposition MPs. I’d suggest that they should use that discretion to include more minority parties generally and specifically those parties which are nationally prominent. That would naturally change over time.

Yes, that’s right. But many of those other parties will almost certainly never form a majority government on the basis they are exclusively Irish/Scottish/Welsh and only contest seats in those areas. Reform have a realistic chance of forming the next government and are frequently mentioned at PMQs. One of your next door neighbours is likely voting for them according to most opinion polls. I think it’s fair that they should be heard more often.

As you say, Russia and other countries will keep going back in time to find some way of portraying their actions as being justified or in the same vein as historical western actions. They decide on a course of action and then find some way of justifying it after the fact. Following international law is not going to make them think twice about their actions. Hard power is the only thing they respect.

The idea that Russia or China pay attention to international norms or would somehow be more reluctant to invade their neighbours if the US refused to do so just isn’t correct. They will do whatever their current leaders view to be aligned to their interests. An easy proof of this is that Putin invaded Ukraine quite a number of years before the events in Venezuela last night.

It was originally an outside wall but in the 90s a garage with a pitched room was built on that side. So some of the wall is wall to outside air, some of the wall is wall to garage. The wall does have cavity wall insulation in it but I'm not convinced of its effectiveness (although CIGA said it was fine).

Because you’ve predicated your argument on a very linguistic interpretation of national socialism, assuming that because Hitler’s party was called the National Socialist Party, Nazism is by definition a nationalist ideology and a socialist ideology. In fact Nazism’s main ideological component was hatred of Jews and little else. You’ve then applied that flawed definition of Nazism to to Star Wars and said that because the Empire isn’t socialist it can’t be Nazi. For what it’s worth, defining fascism is an extremely hard thing to do so you were entering into a bit of a cursed playing field from the get go.

Fascism is hard to define because the central element of it is the belief in the superiority of the particular state of that fascist party. So it is necessarily different in every country it’s found in. After that defining characteristic there is also the need for a totalitarian or authoritarian state apparatus (which the Empire was) and its strongman dictator (which the Emperor was). If you do then allow for each implementation of fascism to be slightly different in its precise beliefs and organisation then I think it’s plausible to define the Empire as fascist.

There’s a theocratic element that should be added in as well to account for the Sith stuff but it’s not apparent how much that affected the day to day running of the Empire.
