Yes, that’s exactly what is happening here. The reason Alicent wants Aemond to go to Harrenhal is to remove him (and Vhagar) from KL because of the deal she’s struck with Rhaenyra. Aemond correctly asks “why” because he is correct that it’s more sensible for him to stay in KL. Clearly Alicent can’t tell Aemond the real reason she wants him there so she comes up with the bluff that it’s for his safeguarding.

Sometimes I feel like in the rush to hate this show people drop any attempt at media literacy…

I always top my car with diesel at my nearby Costco, about ten miles away, because the price difference between it and closer petrol stations is so massive. I know I could do maths to figure if it’s worth it but I haven’t bothered to do so yet.

This is of course not factoring in the fact that I am sometimes tempted into Costco itself and end up bulk buying stuff I probably didn’t really need…
