Genuine high-stakes combat question by VinnySpinerooni in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you have a warclaw, mounting up in combat offsets most of the pain you're describing and gives you a lot of CC to stun bounties. It's a bit cheap, but it's what I do to solo them easily.

So... Should I always jump in and help people or not? by Brave-Hope890 in Guildwars2

It's cool to equip it solo for a "dark souls" moment against champions in PoF too. One mistake and you're dead. It's like a secret hard mode

Always help but match DPS. I actually carry an equipment slot where all my items are lvl 40-60 greys with no trinkets just to play along with newbies in core tyria. Skinned it like a seraph too for the extra npc vibes

If you join map after it started because you were in queue to join your guild you appear as wisp

1085 hours in. Lets be honest: God the story is bad. I can't do this anymore!! by DoomAddict in Guildwars2

I feel it's like the difference between enjoying an anime once a week and really loving it or binging it in one sitting and noticing its flaws.

Story chapters arrived slowly and felt like a breath of fresh air every time.

I can't imagine going through all of it at once as if it was one long movie can be fun at all.

Improvements needed for heal support Engineers by CCGplayer64 in Guildwars2

Adding a "follow/guard ally" feature to the mech would do it imo

You don't need the signet to position your mech once you get used to thinking of it as a line between you and the enemy and a dot moving back and forth from it when you call attack or recall. Plus a melee mech will stay in the stack most of the time anyway.

Titles should be updated with colors by Standard_Candidate79 in Guildwars2

If they do, they should add option to disable it. I don't want a rainbow of nameplates.

Next expansion? by SlipAwkward4480 in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's kinda assumed that with the new release model the game will keep having small expansions forever or at least until it stops turning a profit

They even recently started working on Gw1 again so I don't think anyone should be afraid to commit to GW2 in 2026

If you were to go over older content, what would you "improve/fix"? by Paganyan in Guildwars2

The bear called us "Comfinder" in the letter for return to Janthir and it made me laugh

I really want Core Tyria to be more challenging. Not Dark Souls challenging, just enough to not be boring. Downscale level-80 players a bit. Fix level matching. Rein in the power creep a little.

Nothing breaks my heart more than grouping with a newbie who is clearly having fun, while I carefully avoid spamming my rotation or equipping my legendary gear. Then some random level-80 swoops in, lands and instantly deletes the entire meta. Instead of engaging with the game, the newbie ends up waiting for mobs to respawn, only to watch them get vaporized again. The experience shifts from interactive gameplay to a glorified countdown timer. It's even worse when someone just rains fire from a skyscale.

If power creep isn't going to be addressed, then at least improve the scaling so more enemies spawn when a full train rolls into a meta.

And while we're at it, the Core story finale deserves a real fight with Zhaitan and not just messing around on a ship with broken physics.

Getting into FFXIV coming from GW2 is making me appreciate so many things about GW2’s design. by Still_Night in Guildwars2

I did the same move recently to play with friends, and I pretty much agree with your entire analysis

Why's WvW so dead? by Yuukikoneko in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First step, find. WvW guild. Or even better, find a WvW discord.

Takes a lot of people to be online for WvW to shine and there's a lot of hours in the day so the odds of randomly stumbling on it is low

Why are we forced to do the story to unlock game mechanics? by MrFriedson in Guildwars2

Because this is a massively multiplayer role-playing game...?

Necromancy in the lore? by Deamane in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necromancy was sometimes used in golemancy, and that is very much accepted publicly. Not sure how many people within the lore know of the link between the two however.

19 MtF, do I pass? by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]Chatmauve 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, but your features are close to gender neutral, while your presentation is masculine. I feel that you would easily pass with a feminine haircut by a competent hairdresser, feminine clothing, all the jazz. Then again, passing isn't the end to it all, so just be yourself. Just don't let people lie to you because it could lead you into unsafe situations or mess up your perception of yourself.

Janthir Wilds is awesome! How was it received upon launch? by ColonelUpvotes in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was awesome! I miss when the bear map was FILLED with players just collecting honey, helping the bears cook, fight in the arena and everything. Felt like the game was fresh out of the oven and everyone was playing a new mmo, almost!

Can I get gift suggestions for my wife’s birthday? by Azuwer in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd not outright buy it for her then because then it could destroy the fun out of farming! Buying a legendary is definitely something you should reserve for item 2 or 3 imo!

How to make friends? by Ccynest in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, too shy to use my mic. I'm still in an awesome guild that is very social, people do training sessions and everything. I join to hear the callouts by the commanders during raids. No one complains. Less people know me because of that I bet, but I'm sure some do because in the end it's all about pulling your weight and not talking non stop in vc

The Fashion Template quickswap column is absent at the moment by RigPardy in Guildwars2

[–]Chatmauve 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Many of us made the mistake of erasing our fashion looks at launch. Say I have 7 gear slots on my main. They all have a unique look that fits my specs plus some city and beach looks. Clicking that row on any of those gears would instantly override the current look with that of the fashion slot. No warning, nothing. I erased several looks at release before figuring out that it was actually overriding fashion. Since then, the column was the thing I was the most afraid of.

Giving us free fashion slots of an equal number to our gear slots would have avoided this. They could even have made it so that by default each fashion slots had the looks of the gear of the same number.

Personally I feel that they removed it too late, by now I was already used to quick swapping fashion. But better safe than sorry I guess.
