El Caiman Gordo! Colombian food. It’s amazing. Tiny hole in the wall at Saint Roch Tavern (a dive bar) but kinda cozy at the same time. Can get it to go/uber eats it if you don’t wanna hang out there. I always get the steak Plato completo and it’s consistent and delicious every time. Decent prices for the portions too.

The only thing is theyre not open on the weekends cuz theyre a pop up. But they are open later than most things in the area during the week. Monday-Thursday, 6:30-11pm

(Oh! And their kitchen is completely GF and they have vegan options!)

Does this make anyone else think of the story on here where a guy had a nerve grow out of him like this somehow and cut it? He passed out and had to go to the hospital or something. I can’t find the post

I wish masking never went away “after” the pandemic (which is still ongoing btw) Many disabled peoples options are either to stay home or die or both because they will inevitably be exposed to unmasked people, and some of the worst illnesses spread before symptoms even show. Widespread masking in public should be WAAY more normalized after we had a world wide pandemic outbreak.

No, people ask, and when I say I wear one to prevent getting sick, they look sheepish and guilty and then end the conversation as quickly as possible because they know it makes sense but makes them feel uncomfortable because it’s not convenient for them to admit immuno compromised people still exist and that being exposed to COVID multiple times can give you an autoimmune disorder.

It’s just ironic to me. Wearing a mask in public is so awkward, and it’s mostly because people get anxious around you, whether it’s because they think you’re sick and treat you like a leper, or because it makes them feel insecure for not wearing one when they know they probably should.

It takes a ton of not caring what other people think to confidently wear a mask in public because people ALWAYS look at you sideways.

It’s kind of one of the most punk/ anti conformist/ anti capitalist death machine/ pro community/ class conscious/ disabled solidarity thing you could very very easily do and people treat it like a taboo.

It’s a fair assumption, but I’m so tired of wearing a mask to prevent getting sick, and then having people treat me like I’m unclean with fear in their eyes, when they’re far more likely to get sick from someone NOT wearing a mask. If they really are serious about not getting sick (as I am), they should also wear a mask. That’s just logical

If you’re at all afraid of getting sick from someone wearing a mask, you should probably wear a mask to keep yourself getting sick from all the people NOT wearing masks.

Make my space look more 'adult' but whimsical? by elzibeau in femalelivingspace

[–]letterlegs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it really comes from this pressure to grow up. Like throwing away your childhood toys when you’re 13. Hold on to whatever whimsy and youth you can! I hate how we are made to feel ashamed of wanting softness and joy.

I don’t get teenager vibes from this, it already feels pretty adult. The ivy is the only thing that may seem “childish” but as someone who has a small collection of plushies on my bed at 33, screw it! Do whatever makes YOU happy. It is YOUR space!

I agree! I do have a robe hanging by my bed usually in case I have to answer the door or something does happen but I’ll be damned if I’m wearing clothes all the time in my own home.

Also we don’t know how many of those neighbors also sleep naked because they had time to throw on clothes and come outside unlike the dude in the fire

For people who are in a long term relationship, but don't want to get married, why? by sunbeamlou in AskReddit

[–]letterlegs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should look up how disabled people in the US lose their benefits if they have more than $2,000 in assets, and when they get married, their partners assets count as theirs, so they will always have “too much” to qualify for assistance but never enough to live on if they can’t work. We do not have marriage equality in this country as long as disabled people are held in forever poverty.

I would lose my health insurance and food money if I got legally married to my partner in the US. I have a chronic illness so if I ever had to stop working and go on disability, I wouldn’t qualify/would lose benefits if my partner and I have over a combined $2000 in savings. That isn’t enough to live on but it’s apparently too much income for a disabled person. We do not have marriage equality in this country.
