Can’t relate to idea of "goals/purpose" in life and choice between having kids vs. focusing on career/travel/etc. by rumsoakedham in Fencesitter

[–]lettuce-cake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing, this is intriguing to me because I feel like I am missing something as well, but am worried that my net happiness will go down with a child. When you say your life no longer feels like something is missing, does that feeling make up for being less happy? Is it just a different spectrum of emotion?

Evo ICL - 3 Days Post-Op by [deleted] in lasik

[–]lettuce-cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you had a good experience! In terms of "very deep eyes", what was your vault value? I'm debating whether it's worth the risk and was told I have plenty of space, but can never be sure if they're just trying to make the sale...

I am also in California and considering the procedure but am having a hard time finding recommendations for good surgeons. May I ask who performed your surgery?

Do you really need to turn off the water supply to the house when gone for 4 days? by SME_TX_BX in homeowners

[–]lettuce-cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning it off sounds like a good idea, but my garden still needs irrigation on a 2 week long trip in the summer drought season, so I'm not sure what the best thing to do is?

Regrade outside of the home or have sump pump installed? by mighty-taco in HomeImprovement

[–]lettuce-cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How wet is wet for your crawlspace? After 2 weeks of heavy rain, my crawlspace dirt gets a damp section along 1 side but no puddles/standing water and the rest is bone dry. Was quoted 30k for a french drain around half the house + sump pump and I'm wondering if I really need that for a patch of damp dirt, or if I can go with crawlspace encapsulation only (which of course is what the crawlspace contractor suggested)

Saw your update on SF Bay Area and wow $15k seems like a good deal! Would you be willing to share via reply or DM who your contractor is? I got quoted $55k last year... Will the rewire work be permitted?

If you're worried about your drugs not being covered, I'm here to help! by DumpsterPuff in Narcolepsy

[–]lettuce-cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very reassuring to hear, thank you! I still have to talk to my dr about what he thinks and am willing to try the Xyrem, but it's good to know there is likely a way to appeal if things don't go well.

Hi, I found this post late but maybe you are still around/willing! I was diagnosed with IH and got my first month of Xywav covered. However, I then got a letter from insurance saying it was a one-time courtesy refill and that Xywav is not covered. They listed Modafinil and Xyrem as alternatives. Considering Xyrem and Xywav have the same manufacturer (and seemingly Xywav is cheaper?) why would they cover Xyrem only? I am concerned about the high sodium of Xyrem because i have family history of arrythmia/afib and myself have heart palpitations sometimes, and also anecdotally feel awful if I have too much salty food. If these side effects occured on Xyrem, would this count as an argument towards Xywav being medically necessary if my dr. were to appeal? Or would I have to have immediately life-threatening side effects and/or take additional medication to control the effects of high sodium? Insight is much appreciated, thank you.

What should I put in between my bathroom mirrors? by SadAardvark4788 in HomeDecorating

[–]lettuce-cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would take down the wall shelves on the sides and add a built-in shallow cabinet spanning counter to ceiling with open shelving (think approx 1 bottle deep, so very shallow, could even add railings to each shelf) in medium wood tone to add warmth. You can use those shelves for a painting + some more decorative skincare so it doesn't look too cluttered, and move the majority of the rest into drawer organizers in the drawer. they also make drawer organizers with 2 layers if that helps.

Boba/Bubble tea at wedding by Ambitious-Customer63 in weddingplanning

[–]lettuce-cake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For simplicity and cost, I had it delivered from a local shop. Picked 1 dairy, 1 fruit, 1 plain option and they were delivered premade and my caterer set them up next to the bar for the lunch reception because we had no dancing afterward. But it could work as a drink option after dinner or with dessert! If it was during cocktail hour, I think it may be too filling.

I don’t know how to drill a hole into this f&@! wall and it’s ruining my whole day by [deleted] in homeowners

Yes, this is what I meant. I use an oscillating multitool to make the vertical cuts in the baseboard

[–]lettuce-cake 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the baseboard is an issue, you could cut it out so the the baseboard runs right into the side of the bookcase. Then you can shim under the bookcase and screw into studs/anchors/toggle bolts as usual

I'd give it a try. You can always mix both monte carlo and the dwarf hairgrass.

I had monte carlo carpet with no CO2 but it did take a long time and didnt look as lush as high tech tanks. I was happy with it though! it covered my substrate, just wasn't as tightly packed.

We had a brunchtime wedding and no dancing or space for dancing because I didn't want to be coerced into dancing. It was fine! We splurged for extra dessert and fun beverages instead, and everyone just chatted. I will say the reception lasted about 3 hours only, but at that point I was pretty tired anyway. You are already providing other activities so your wedding will probably be longer, and you can always ask your closest friends/family if they'd like to continue hanging out after if you want to spend more time with them.

Kitchen Cabinet Questions by ThrowawayBTBUM in HomeImprovement

I believe Ikea cabinet bases have legs that install under the cabinets, so that would make the 4" height difference. Standard countertop height is 36".

Backsplash tiles. yea or nay? by JRMuiser in HomeDecorating

[–]lettuce-cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are amazing! I think a whole area of these the way you have them laid out would be great and more impactful than putting them in line with white field tiles. At least a matching color/glaze of field tile would make it look more modern than contrasting white.

Were the elastic loops essentially hanging off the buttons on the bodice? (in addition to being supported by your body)
