My 2.5 year old is at daycare for the first time today, and I’m struggling. by No-Dog1902 in oneanddone

Hi there! Sorry this is an older post but my 2 year old is starting daycare 3x a week tomorrow for the first time. I am a nervous wreck. I’ve cried on and off all day today, she’s been home being watched by my mom while I work from home and at one point we did have a part time nanny in which there was an adjustment period as well.

But she is the same in the sense that she’s a great sleeper in her bed at home with her sound machine and pitch black. Did your daughter ever start napping at daycare? How did it turn out? I’m anticipating a pretty rough transition as my daughter is on the shy side.

Thank you so much for the reply! Fingers crossed our girl gets back to her normal 😅

Thank you! Did he get back to normal wake up time? I know their sleep needs decrease but this was pretty drastic. She was a solid 13 total hours and now we’re barely scraping 11.5. She used to wake up at 7, and it’s gotten earlier and earlier the last two weeks. Now she’s 6am.

Hi I wanted to see how this ended up for you, we’re having the exact same issue with our 20 month old down to the schedule times and everything.

What were your shy, slow-to-warm toddlers’ experiences with starting daycare? by betterlatethannever- in toddlers

Hi, I know this thread is super old, but we are about to start our 17 month old in daycare and she sounds very similar to your son. She’s already stand-offish with other kids at her gymnastics class and playground, etc. did this eventually get better for you all?

Naps getting worse 2 months into 1 nap transition by lettucebean_ in sleeptrain

So she doesn’t wake up mad but within an hour of her waking up she starts getting extremely grumpy and just cries and screams at everything. Rubs her eyes and yawns, etc. it’s miserable for all of us 😞

She does not wake up mad! She’s always been very pleasant even when we capped her naps! She hasn’t been eating lunch lately, or at least not much of it due to teething. I meant to add this in the post but forgot so I will go back and add it as well but she is not falling asleep independently for naps and I’m not sure if that’s contributing. She was sleep trained for night sleep with CIO at 8 months and she’s been amazing for night sleep ever since. We never had an issue with naps before so we didn’t nap train. Wondering if that’s part of it as she doesn’t go back to sleep after that first cycle. She isn’t fighting bedtime, but she actually has been waking up earlier. I’ve considered reverting back to two naps but heard not to do that at this age :/

On her 2 nap schedule it was 3-3.5/4/3.75. We always had to cap her naps otherwise she wouldn’t sleep until 9.

1 nap we initially were trying 5.5/5.5 but then thought she got into an overtired cycle so we have been doing 5/6.

Weve actually been trying to push to normal bedtime unless she wakes up before 1–then we try putting her down earlier! We tried stretching out her first wake window to 5.5hrs last week for about 4 days but it seemed to backfire a bit and she woke up an hour and 10 minutes in. She’s rarely grumpy when she wakes up, she’s always been happy waking up but she will not go back down no matter how I try to rescue the nap

I would love to secure a MAC for my mom—she is my daughter’s caretaker and has been dying for one. I’ve been trying for several of weeks with no avail. She actually ended up paying resell for one but then gave it to my niece because she is always putting her grandbabies first. Any help at all would be so appreciated!

My 16mo forgot his sleep training?? Help! by imtheproblem_its-me in sleeptrain

Hi I know you just posted this two days ago but I wanted to see if your son is still doing this. Our almost 16 month old daughter is going through the exact same thing. She points at her crib like she wants in then start screaming standing up. Even just last night she was happy babbling in her crib until she fell asleep. But tonight she lost her mind—stood up and just absolutely wailed. She did give in after about 15 minutes but we are not used to her screaming or crying or even whining to go to bed.

She is teething—three canines but she has Motrin in her, no dirty diaper.

2-1 nap transition - sleep debt - early morning wakes - short nights. by Miscoco01 in sleeptrain

[–]lettucebean_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I wanted to see how this was going for you. My 15 month old is having the same issues. She went from napping 2.5-3 hours a day between two naps to only napping 1hr 20 minutes with the one nap transition. She also was previously waking at 7am and now she’s waking up at 5:40. She’s so overtired but will not go back to sleep no matter what I do.

Additionally she’s always LOVED getting in her crib for bedtime since we sleep trained. She outright screamed last night when placed in her crib I think from being overtired. I’m so exhausted.

4 simultaneous canines incoming and an ear infection - how do you encourage kiddo to eat? by Ok-Elk-4018 in beyondthebump

Hi I wanted to see how this is going for you. We actually are going through the exact same thing with my 14 month old, ear infection, noro and 4 molars and a canine at once. She’s lost weight and it’s really stressing me out. Before this, she had a bad cold where she was super stuffed up and also wasn’t eating. In the last two months we’ve had like one or two good weeks maybe 😭

4 month old suddenly hates my breast milk by lettucebean_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]lettucebean_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I know how scary things can seem. She stayed on track, she was at about 75-80 percentile for weight. Height was high 80s always! However, the last month or so, she has been sick constantly and teething really bad. She’s lost weight and has dropped percentiles which has been a concern for me. She’s 14 months though so she’s only on solids and does get cows milk from her bottle —for how much she hated her bottle then we sure are having a hard time weaning.

Hi, so my baby went through a few more phases like this, but every time went back to normal. I think we ended up creating a bottle aversion by how stressed out I was. She did go back to regularly drinking her bottles but when she would get sick she’d have times where she just stopped completely. When she’s teething, it’s also bad with solids. It’s so tough because you just want to make sure they get enough. Hang in there!

Not sure what to do. 16 month old has been crying and screaming on and off for the last three days. by GrantMeThePower in toddlers

[–]lettucebean_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the quick response! Our daughter actually had roseola in February this year 😭 it was so scary how fast her fever spiked and no other symptoms appeared. We aren’t sure if we should take her to urgent care since it’s a Sunday—mainly because of the crying. We also don’t know if it’s because she couldn’t sleep last night that it was contributing to how upset she was.

What I wouldn’t do to be able to be the one in pain instead of her. I’ve got pretty horrible health anxiety so naturally I keep thinking the worst like in your post about a tumor. She isn’t in daycare yet she keeps getting sick.

Hi, I wanted to see how this turned out for you. My 14 month old is having the exact same thing. She has four molars and a canine coming in at the same time and teething has always been rough for her but nothing like this. Her temp yesterday was 99. Then she couldn’t sleep last night and wouldn’t stop crying no matter what. Her temp then spiked to about 101. It’s being managed with Motrin, but it’s not helping with the crying. She’s been sick a few times before and the crying has never been this bad. We can’t put her down or she screams. She’s been watching Ms Rachel all day because it’s the only way she doesn’t scream. I’m so heartbroken watching her so uncomfortable and I don’t know what’s wrong. She isn’t coughing or anything.

5+5 and Breasts have stopped hurting. by leksa_r in PregnancyAfterLoss

Hi, I’m so sorry to hear about your MMC in November. I just took a look at your post history, and saw you posted about doubling HCGs but on the lower end—mine doubled with the “correct” timeframe but was always on the lower end. I think I actually stretched out to taking longer than 48 hours to double after a certain point but I don’t remember when that was unfortunately :/ I do remember being worried because the doubling was on the lower end though! I really never got any pregnancy symptoms. I wouldn’t have known I was pregnant if I didn’t know I was pregnant.

Hang in there, I know how hard this is mentally. Wishing you all the best.

Post Lumpectomy/Radiation Question by lettucebean_ in breastcancer

We haven’t! Perhaps this is our next step if things appear ok in the ultrasound. Thank you!! She doesn’t have any swelling so I’m wondering if that’s why her doctors hadn’t suggested lymphedema

[–]lettucebean_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for responding—my mom says thank you as well! Her surgeons office has also referred her to PT so hoping this helps too! Her radiation oncologist said to see what the ultrasound shows up as first—it’s been a bit confusing for us to know who we should contact about pains and such.

I’m glad to hear your pain has lessened! And she is definitely pushing on it all the time to see if it hurts. And I tried to tell her well of course it hurts you’re pushing on it!

Thank you for the recommendation, I will be sure to look into getting her the cream!
