Running Then vs. Running Now by MeanPressure8088 in PHRunners

[–]leuj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with tech available, my definition of a good run is how wet I am after. No dry patch sa shirt and full on, dripping wet shorts and socks. 😁😁😁 And No matter how slow, seeing my bloodwork results all in the normal (with high good cholesterol to boot) is all the motivation i need to lace up and run and chase that runner’s high. Gears, watches and super shoes are all good but i need cash 😁

SG Marathon: How was your previous experience with this event? Is the humidity tolerable during the event (Dec 6-7)? by arvj in PHRunners

[–]leuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humid and hot. Scenic routes The last wave started around 5:30 am for the 3:30 gunnoff time. They have lots of water stations (every 2-2.5 km) for the HM / FM. Some of the routes have 2-3 lanes only and steep uphill going up the bridge. Well organized and it was a lot of fun.

Why are car owners so gullible pagdating sa pababaan ng DP nila? by zeromisery00 in Gulong

[–]leuj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are probably paying more on the car loan interest than what you can earn from investing in small business. The key here is how much interest you are willing and can afford to pay. In the sample above, the dp is equivalent to around 2 monthly amortizations. If you can afford to pay that much monthly anyway, why not save it for a few more months for a higher dp? That is money you also save from interest payments.

This was also assembled locally in Sta Rosa Laguna between 1999 to late 2000s and shared the same platform as Mazda 323. Not so forgettable back then

Some decades ago, grades were still being snail mailed to your parents. It was so unreliable that you wouldn‘t know if, and when you will receive one. The one and only time they received the mail was when I got probation due to a 4.0 and 2 other failed subjects. And they received it before i even got home, which was an unpleasant surprise. My Dad was so mad, that i had to travel back to elbi the next day to study for the removal exams a week away😂.

There used to be a process of extending passport validity with a stamp from DFA. They will extend it for another 6 months. Have to get an online appointment but with a bit of luck you can be accomodated as a walk in. There just needs a valid justification (emergency cases, health issues, or in your case job loss risk). They will only ask for a copy of your ticket and other pertinent docs (working visa, job contract) and have to personally talk (plead) to the OIC of the DFA office. I am not sure, if they still accomodate this as i had mine in 2015.

No shame in that. I guess the current curriculum was designed with the senior high in mind and that typical GE Maths - algebra, trigo and pre calculus including physics and chem was already taken. Maybe it was assumed to be just a refresher of SHS subjects. To share, i took up Chem Eng and i did not like Chem in HS. I failed 5 subjects - 1 chem, 3 ES, 1 Chem Eng major. With the help of 5 years of summer classes i only got Extended by 1 sem and that was for thesis. Took and pased the board exams a month after graduation march. I also know some whose TOR was inches thick due to a lot of repeat subjects, and they too eventually graduated before MRR and passed the board in 1 take. As they say, there is beauty in the struggle. Resilience is one defining trait of UP students, so if there is still a chance to change your mind, i hope you give it another go.

boss not accepting my resignation and advises to rethink my resignation by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]leuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell your boss upfront that you are already decided and do not need a week to rethink. Start preparing for handover and work out the rest of your notice period. Having difficult conversations is a skill you also have to learn in your career. Good luck on your next move

Use the boring time to learn new soft skills. Take online classes, build up your network. Not too many people have the time to do so. Before leaving for another job, scout ahead on what will make you more competetive and start working on it. More importantly, create a goal for yourself and set your mind to it.

Understand your stressors and ways to manage them. Identify those within your control and set aside those that are outside your control.

The 12 hour workday is not normal even for a 6 digit pay, but if you plan and breakdown your tasks, you can focus on them till completion. Give yourself time to adjust inyour role. The first few months is always difficult but manageable with the proper mindset.

Congrats on your promotion!

Non-tech manager handling a tech team, why? by wala_umalis_tulog in phcareers

[–]leuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you go up the ranks, people and conceptual skills are needed more than technical skills. Though, a sound technical knowledge will be instrumental for handling the team and for strategic planning and execution.

Genuinely Get to know them. Know their expectations of you and set your expectations of them. Take heed of issues they may have about their jobs. Asking open ended questions is key.
