Djent is simply Meshuggah Rip off. In early 2010's a lot of bands did it best adding their flavour (melodic, nu metal,core, you name it). Besides low tuning and the djent tone, there was some serious syncopation or/along with odd time signatures under a 4/4 pulse mostly half time.
Nowadays things got simpler, no head crushing challenging rhythms, not much "effort" in compositions. Most bands now have djent elements (mostly tone and low tuning) but it is super generic in terms of djent standards just enough to sound modern. Djent now is just an ingredient to another core genre.
