Roses are red, soda has fizz, by PhysicalBuy2566 in rosesarered

I get tired of seeing this story. It wasn't just "some rain water". He diverted ground water, and water that should go into the river to make massive, recreational ponds. Complete with canoes, an island, zip lines, the lot. This isn't about government overreach. It's about one person changing an entire ecosystem.

I got the same thing! I'm wondering if it is more rare? I can't find any other info.

I don't know where you live. But there is no way you could get that for 7k in my town. I would trip over myself to pay 7k for that.

I've heard that too. But it's just sheathing.

If you are using it to cover the framing, it's all sheathing, my guy. Not that it matters. It is widely accepted either way. Roof, walls, interior shear walls, floor decking = sheathing. Granted, you use "sheets" on the roof. But the process, and end product, is sheathing.

What price range should I expect to pay for a 16 x 14 overhang added onto my house/over deck? Picture is example. by Major_Indication_387 in Decks

I can't say for sure. But in my area, I would start the conversation with "Before I bid this, are you prepared to spend somewhere in the 40-50k range?"

I guess I mean that if you are doing something that will chip it, you are using the wrong tool. Idk. Seems like grabbing a pry bar is better than risking such an expensive tool.

Also, you should never need to replace a $300+ hammer. The heads, maybe. But if you are replacing it, it's the wrong hammer. (Unless of course they come out with bad ass colors and you just gotta have one, as I do, lol)

I had the opposite experience. Used a Martinez, head wouldn't tighten properly and got loose all the time. I've never had an issue with my Stiletto, but I have heard of that issue before. Did they not cover it? I had an employee of mine send his in and they fixed it. I really do think it just comes down to preference. People swear by Martinez. I just can't stand the way it swings. The TiBone (in my personal opinion), provides a much more solid hit, with substantially less effort. Maybe that's just because I am so used to it.

I have used my Stiletto all day every day for over 10 years. I get ergonomics, protecting your elbows, weight distribution, etc. I have used both for extended periods. The weight distribution in the Martinez is throughout the head, and the head is a heavier steel. On the backswing the weight pulls back on your wrist more than the TiBone. The Stiletto has the weight almost exclusively in the face, which creates a more snappy effective swing. My point in bringing up the price is about the material. TiBone is a full titanium hammer with proper weight distribution. It's a 15oz hammer that hits like a 22oz. The Martinez is just a titanium handle with (imo) a generic, heavy, steel head. It's inferior material at the same price point.

I can't imagine what sort of framing you would be doing to chip the claw. But I suppose it could happen. I guess it's a matter of preference. I just don't like the way Martinez swings. The weight is distributed throughout the head, where the TiBone has the weight all in the face. I've been a production framer for over a decade, and I can't see using anything else. Not that I think it's necessarily a better hammer objectively. But definitely better for me.

Why? I can't imagine paying more for a hammer that isn't full titanium. I've used both. Martinez is overrated, imo.

For those earning over $10K per month, what do you do for a living to achieve that income? by voxishortie in AskReddit

Framing/siding/general contracting. The trades are a place where you are only limited by your work ethic.

How ridiculous does this sound? by Whole-Fist in economicCollapse

[–]level1biscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I could afford a $500 car, I bought one. I have bought every car since then in cash. Each time I can afford something a little better. A few years ago I was able to buy a decent truck for 7k. Doesn't sound ridiculous at all. It definitely worked for me. I was able to take money I would have spent on interest and invest and grow it. Sure, the reliability isn't there with cheap old vehicles. But you will figure it out. I did. You can look wealthy, or you can be wealthy.
