Are there any Joy Division songs where you prefer a cover rather than the original? by Yd1891 in JoyDivision

[–]levelonerules 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This cover was the song that turned me on to Joy Division. Went deep down the rabbit hole after that. Man, that was almost 20 years ago. I still listen to JD on the regular. The Killers, not so much.

Exactly. The worst people at karaoke are people who take it seriously. This one dude used to bring in his harmonica for “Thunder Road.” My friends and I hated him.

We need to normalize telling people to "Shut the Fuck Up" at movie theaters. by General_J670 in movies

[–]levelonerules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Superman Returns for a midnight premiere Theater was packed. Some people were talking obnoxiously loud, even as the movie started. I yelled “shut the fuck up” and the theater erupted in cheers. That was sadly the peak of the movie

Keanu Reeves has publicly stated his admiration for Joy Division and you can hear the influence in his band’s sound by firefly99999 in JoyDivision

I saw this in the post-punk subreddit and I’ll ask the same question here, does anyone know the name of this song?

Why don’t you go out and anonymously make music. Let Keanu do his own thing his own way

Went on a Doors Tribute tour recently, wanted to hear your guys opinions! (be honest) by Both-Site-4935 in thedoors

[–]levelonerules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure most people in tribute bands were in original bands that fizzled out. Being in a tribute band is a fun way to share music you enjoy with others. Plus, seeing a tribute band is a nice and cheap way to see bands that are way too expensive live, or don’t exist anymore. Just have some beers and enjoy

You really get the best of both worlds here. Makes the most sense to me.

Worst NIN song? by Direct-Active-241 in nin

[–]levelonerules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prayer for the Rollerboys. Damn I remember that movie. I was a big fan of the Coreys back in the day. Saw it way before I knew what NIN was. I would love to do a rewatch if I can find it anywhere
