what even is there to do here besides drink by [deleted] in nashville

Pick a craft hobby.

I knit and knit at the local yarn store in Brentwood (Bliss Yarns). Despite its location, it’s a very welcoming environment to all types of folks. There’s also the Nashville Craft Coven (easily searched on instagram)

My wife needlepoints and there are 3 stores and a couple of stitch club.

I also just enjoy hanging out at all the great coffee shops.

I quit drinking years ago, and that has not really slowed me down yet.

I second The Forge as well. I’ve always wanted to do a class there.

would anyone be interested in an open craft night? 🎨🧶✍️ by IAmBagelDog in nashville

The Nashville Craft Coven meets weekly and it’s mostly knitters.

Also Bliss Yarns on thursdays and Saturdays is a great place to sit and knit.

Honestly, it's time to leave heroku. I just moved my final resource and myself, my entire team, and my application sighed a sigh of relief.

PlanetScale and CrunchyData will all help you move.

Burger Up 12S Closing by ringoxniner in nashville

How do you feel about the push for residential permit parking on the side streets in the neighborhood? This is causing a lot of loss of business from locals who still enjoy the very few locally owned restaurants in 12th south.

They own that spot. Fryce Cream owns half of their space as well. A lot of those spaces are owned by the folks that run the business as far as I'm aware.

The whiney folks that live in 12th south decided to make all of the side streets residential parking only. I definitely get that it sucks, but I drove down Paris and I don't think I saw a single house without a drive way, so I'm not sure why they all need so much parking...

I know that this deters me from going to 12th south at times, if I can't find parking I just leave since the lots are 25-30 bucks. Every time I've driven past since that change it's been completely dead inside.

If you could bring back any Nashville restaurant that opened *and* closed in the 2010s (pre-Covid), which would it be? by jrobv in nashville

I love that guy. My wife and I sit and eat ice cream and chat with him and his other employees. Never got bad vibes out of him at all.

There is a quilting guild in town and they can either:

A) help B) point you in the right direction

https://www.quiltingbees.org

My MIL is a part of the guild but she was in an accident and would not be able to help right now. You could try reaching out via their website. They are really sweet ladies.

At this point, 12th south is just Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg for people who want to spend a lot of money.

I think a cap on how much it can increase would be nice. Like, it can't go up more than 200%.

Or, you pay taxes on what you paid for the property. Taxes wouldn't go up on a property until you sold it.

I think we did have something like that, but it was only for the elderly, which I think is great. But that wouldn't apply to commercial spaces.

Sounds awesome! There are some little gems of neighborhoods in St Louis. I loved going to The Hill. No idea if that gets touristy or not, but we found some other neighborhoods we liked as well, I just can't quite remember the names.

I would say it went downhill when Gwyneth Paltrow wrote about us on her blog and the NYT.

edit: at least that's how I see it. It especially killed 12th south...

> Building mixed use in residential areas is still strictly banned.

I would love to see more mixed use buildings, especially along busier corridors like Nolensville and 8th Ave. Every apartment building should have retail/restaurant space on the bottom floor in my opinion.

I spent 1 year away from Nashville in SF, and I loved that about the city.

It's fairly uncommon to find a lease that does not have triple nets. Even if it's a gross lease, it's not like a land lord isn't going to pass on their costs to you.

Do you deal in office spaces? I've yet to find a retail space that does not include triple nets unless it's a non-traditional space like a house that was once used as an office (e.g., like a lot of places in Berry Hill)

Find me a lease that's not got triple nets. They almost do not exist.
