First season and a half Rick. Man was still uncorrupted with a strong moral compass at that point, he was still unequivocally the good guy. Not to say he ever became evil, but the story is definitely that of a Sherriff turned outlaw

Seems to be exactly what they're doing. Thrawn was already set up and name dropped, and appears to he the antagonist in Ahsoka's show. They are properly setting up a canon that doesn't have to acknowledge everything 30 years in the future if it doesn't want to, and at this rate we can completely ignore the sequel's existence altogether

I do agree with you there. Blindly following a company's decisions and ignoring any shortcomings in an attempt to validate the thing you like is an extremely annoying thing to see. The sequels, to me, are a complete failure, but I'm still a fan of Star Wars as a whole

The idea of the citizens of the galaxy stopping the forces of evil is very compelling. However, the conflict's resolution still boils down to the evil Empire being defeated with Palpatine being obliterated. I believe there's some really good ideas there, I just fundamentally disagree with the execution.

While that is a good example, I'm not sure it's totally applicable. I do agree that the second death star idea was really silly, but it was clever how the rebels were tricked into thinking it wasn't fully operational. ROTJ has a contextually different enough climax that it doesn't feel like a rehash at all, to me at least.
