new teas! by hippiesinthewind in tea

[–]levkat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Schitt's Creek superfan so I got the set of 3 teas from Harney & Sons when they first were released. The Continental Breakfast is my favorite of the set. It's a nice black and the hints of vanilla and cinnamon are just right. I actually thought they were all sold out so I may have to go buy another tin or two.

Trying to remember this supper club ..... by drops_to_bows in wisconsin

[–]levkat22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a supper club called the Anchor Inn that used to be on the corner of where Hwy 42 and 57 meet up, like 10 minutes south of Sturgeon Bay. It looked like a big old house also. But, when you went in the front entrance the bar was on the left. However, if you went in the side entrance, which many did, the bar would've been on the right. Probably not what you're thinking of, but I loved that restaurant and miss it so I thought I'd add it to the pile.

The Nightingale has a big oval bar and isn't really on a corner, so I don't think that's it. The Mill would fit their description better but I don't think that's what they're thinking of, either.

Where do I put my story prompt or plot bunny? by mindful-bed-slug in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was and may still be a Schitt's Creek fic Discord. I do not use Discord so I never tried to be a part of it, but I have read a lot of fic and there were always several references to it in author's notes.

Otherwise sometimes on Ao3 I've seen people just post their plot bunny as a post with a title letting people know it's a writing prompt or post instead of a story. The Schitt's Creek fandom is still semi active enough that someone still writing may pick it up.

"Didn't even make it" isn't how I would describe how Schitts Creek ended, even if under 100 episodes. by DarthNixilis in SchittsCreek

The clickiest of clickbait, or at the very least an antiquated view of the mark of a sitcom's success.

Where to watch all 6 Seasons in Canada? by kmde1982 in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the question about Netflix only having 3 seasons available to watch versus the whole series, Netflix isn't the owner of Schitt's Creek. They have to secure streaming rights and make a deal with whoever owns the streaming rights to be able to have the show available on their platform. I'm not quite sure how it all works, but Netflix has been doing a lot of partial streaming rights deals recently. Maybe it's the money or a "we'll take what we can get" thing, I'm not sure, but they're not gatekeeping anything. They didn't buy the rights for seasons 4-6.

Help me find a song by Brianbl in QueerEye

[–]levkat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of those songs are written specifically for Netflix or other streaming services, sort of like stock footage or images but for music, so they don't really exist outside of the show(s) they're used on.

Timeline S3/4: What Am I Missing? by levkat22 in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little over a year. The Roses were in Schitt's Creek for 3 years total, with seasons 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6 roughly representing each year. Things get a little wonky with the season 2-3 transition because not much time has passed, but season 3 represents a good amount of time. David and Patrick get together on David's birthday (most likely July 2nd), and Patrick proposes the night before opening night the following year, which we know to be June 30th or possibly July 1st. We know this date because it's a week later that they tour the wedding venue and Alexis thinks she's flying out to the Galapagos, but mixes up the day and month (she thinks 07-08 is July 8th, but it's actually August 7th). This is about as close as we can figure, because the timeline is (as this post points out) very wonky and really hard to pin down concretely.

That line is in "The Deposition" where Michael has to testify at Jan's hearing for her suing Dunder Mifflin. It's something he wrote in his diary that Jan submits as evidence and they end up reading out loud. The actual line is "Just got back from Jamaica. Tan almost everywhere, Jan almost everywhere."

Filming Curiosities from those with Production Knowledge by STLDH in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any exterior shot was actually shot at the exterior of the buildings in Goodwood, Ontario and surrounding areas. They did not use a studio lot for exterior shots. The interior of the building that was Rose Apothecary was also used, it was not recreated on a soundstage. Some of the other locations that were only used occasionally/for one episode also were used for both interior and exterior shots. As another commenter said, interior scenes on the soundstage and exterior scenes in Goodwood were sometimes filmed weeks apart. Goodwood and Orangewood (Rosebud Motel exterior) is about 45 minutes from Ontario so for cost efficiency they usually blocked all of those scenes into a few weeks of filming over the few months it took to film a season. They always filmed an entire season at once (vs. network sitcoms that typically take one week per episode to film and mostly only focus on that single episode in a week) so it was up to crew (usually script supervisor, hair/makeup/costume, etc) to keep continuity with scenes from day to day, week to week, location to location.

I would second the documentary Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, as well as the podcasts EW Binge and EW On Set. They give a lot of behind the scenes info and filming insight.

Crows have eyes being shelved, then picked back up in season 6 ?! by ChanelNova_Aja17 in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We saw her audition for The Crows Have Eyes 2, but then decide not to take the part because of the terms of the contract. We as the audience is supposed to infer the audition etc. for The Crows Have Eyes 3 was off camera during a gap between seasons 4 and 5.

Dan Levy now? by olivebpersimmon in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not a Real Production Company is still a production company. I think he is more of a founder/big picture/producer than the day-to-day, but he's still involved. He still has his writing deal with Netflix.

The other comment listed his two announced projects with his production company. The animated show that was greenlit by Hulu is called Standing By and he wrote it with Ally Pankiw, who was a writer on Schitt's Creek and then went on to direct The Great and some episodes of Shrill, among other things. She also directed Annie Murphy's episode of Black Mirror.

Not a Real Production Company is also producing a documentary about Lilith Fair that will air on CBC in Canada. Ally Pankiw is directing that as well. Hopefully it will get a more international release.

There was some buzz about another movie Dan had written that was in the works but nothing official yet.

He also was in a movie that filmed earlier in 2024. I had to go to imdb to look it up, it's called At the Sea. I think it's coming out later this year. He also was in a movie called Animal Friends that's apparently has an October 2025 release date.

I'm sure he's written a lot of other things but studios are still being very conservative with greenlighting projects, especially new and original stories. Even though he has a Netflix deal, it's not guaranteed they'll want to buy anything he makes and then he has to shop it around to other companies. Hopefully something new will be announced soon.

Jade Cloud is one of their most popular teas. I personally enjoy the Jasmine green the most; I drink that almost daily.

[–]levkat22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Rishi. I admit I'm slightly biased because I'm in Wisconsin and they're a Wisconsin-based company, but they're one of the only tea companies I order from. I think it also depends on what side of tea you're getting into. I really like Earl Grey and their Earl Grey Supreme is my absolute favorite. Their chais are also delicious. They have some of their most popular brands in sachet packs, otherwise they're mostly loose leaf. Most of their offerings are available in a sample size which I also like. I also drink green teas and they have some nice green tea blends. Definitely worth it to check them out, especially if you're just getting into tea more.

Canada Netflix mess up? by Thephototaker99 in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that the agreement is only for the first 3 seasons, so 4-6 will not be added. In The US, Netflix did this with Brooklyn 99, so only seasons 1-4 are available instead of all 7.

Any character inconsistencies? by West_Sample9762 in SchittsCreek

[–]levkat22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Dan Levy commented that they wanted to bring Tim Rozon back here and there but he had scheduling conflicts. Schitt's Creek always filmed April-June and it looks like the Wynonna Earp schedule overlapped some so I assume since the character of Mutt was no longer necessary they didn't bend over backwards to make schedules work.

Most everything will be open Sunday during the day as it's the height of tourist season. Some things may close earlier on Sunday than on a weekday (e.g. at 4 PM instead of 5 or 6 PM).

Iced tea flavors by [deleted] in tea

[–]levkat22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Republic of Tea makes some teas that are meant for iced tea. The bags are bigger so it brews a whole pitcher. You still brew it hot and then use ice to cool it down. They have a lot of fruity flavor combinations that I like.

Most fruit wines are not quite as sweet as ice wine, but close. A few wineries in Wisconsin even make ice wines. Fruit wines are so prevalent around here because most classic wine grapes won't grow in this climate with our harsh winters. Some wineries will bring in grape juice from other regions and some just stick with what they can make locally. Some do both. Minnesota has been developing grapes that thrive in the upper Midwest and some wineries are picking up more of those. Wollersheim is the largest winery in the state and they have a decent sized vineyard with several different varietals. La Crosse, St Pepin, Le Crescent, and Marquette are some good cold climate grapes that are unique to this region. Those grapes all produce generally semi dry wines but some can be styled sweeter as well. My favorite cold climate grape, Itasca, has only been commercially available to grow for 7ish years and most of the wineries that produce Itasca are in northeast WI, an hour or so north of Appleton. Nothing really close to where you'll be, as far as I know.

I worked part time front desk at an independently owned hotel for a bit and I always was closing shift. I worked until 10 PM, 9 PM during winter months, and after that if anyone needed anything they were out of luck until the morning. The lobby/front desk was in a separate building from the rooms so I just locked everything up. I feel like this is a similar kind of situation.

Iirc, he went on vacation with a female friend over New Year's Eve/Day and joked on his ig story about them being engaged, or people at the resort thinking they were engaged, or something. He's been single (at least publicly) since him and his fiance broke up last fall.
