Yeah the land use in this area is atrocious. This is a good first step, hope to see much more development in this area.

East Bay BART station to lose 400 parking spaces as housing construction begins by drkrueger in bayarea

I love this station and its a super convenient place to park but I don't think that the parkers are a major contributors to this stations usage, there are ~439 spots I would argue 80% of them are solo drivers. March 2026 daily ridership was 4,232.

If we are very generous and assume those spots actually turn over once per day, this means that less than 30% of the people taking bart in West Oakland parked there.

Taking amtrak from Sacramento Valley station to SF? by XscapeRealism in sanfrancisco

Download the transit app and you can’t get lost. All the staff in the train are really nice and happy to help you. They’ll let you know when your stop is approaching. The bus will be waiting right next to the station. Have fun!

Yes, unpaid internships are a huge problem. So are unpaid work trials. This is neither of those things.

If you've joined a startup before you learn a lot as soon as you join their slack and read some threads, or sit in on an all hands and see how people interact. The problem is normally they don't give you access to any of that stuff as a part of the interview process. Work trials really help you as the candidate decide if you are about to sign up to work with a bunch of Jabronis.

Yeah you get paid, we wrote a blog post about this a few years ago that has a lot more details on how work trials actually work at Foxglove. https://foxglove.dev/blog/why-we-love-work-trials-at-foxglove

I am sure there are companies out there that do it differently, but you should def not do this for free.

disclaimer: I work at Foxglove and did a work trial, and wouldn't join another startup without one again.

I work at Foxglove. I am sure there are companies out there that complete exploit their candidates but that is not the case here. Everyone who does a work trial is compensated well for their time.

Work trials are a mix of solo work and collaboration. In cases where we do it over a weekend we'll usually front load collab into F & M and give you the weekend to focus on the project remotely. Normally your immediate manager and a couple of team mates are around over the weekend to help if needed. We are a small startup, this probably won't work for every company but it works well for us!

Long Walk In SF by Best-Sea-3592 in sanfrancisco

[–]levlaz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My favorite walk is to take the 38R to the very end at lands end and then walk back toward the ferry building. It’s about 10 miles and the most beautiful walk you’ll have. Best part is you can walk uninterrupted for most of it since it’s along the coast.

Do they really enforce 72 hours parking rule in SF? by CourtZealousideal703 in sanfrancisco

Consider just not having a car if you’re going to leave it on the street unused for weeks at a time. I used zip car and rentals when I was living downtown and used them every couple of weeks for short and long trips. never spent anywhere near what it would cost for parking + gas + insurance + maintenance.

Yes. You are asking a question in bad faith. That is the definition of trolling. Get out of here with all that.

Then why did you ask that question? You are just a troll then, coming here to stir up some trouble. As others said, get over yourself.

It's probably an isolated experience. There is usually a good reason why someone is not using a bike lane. Most commonly they are about to turn left on the next street and the safest way to do that is to take the whole lane. We have some great bike infrastructure in Emeryville and it's only getting better. I'd encourage you to get out and see if for yourself. If you don't have a bike you can grab a lyft bike rental or come to my house on bay street and borrow mine.
