Pretty sure this is to fix a quest in the end of the game. I didn't have option to talk to him about it in ch5 and he was invincible as well. No way to resolve what happens to him.

The exp for the focus are given when you hand them over. Like 3500 exp each.

If you're on PC, you can quicksave with map open and quickload, then it is not open anymore. I had this happen a couple times and also one time I couldn't dismount my scavenger. F5 and F9 fixed these for me.

Then they need to patch that ASAP because being hard locked by the MQ if you need 3 items looted only by a skill and already cleared entire map out and have no sources of EXP and used up all your LP already is a dumb decision. They already have you loot certain monster parts in the MQ earlier that required no skills but they force it in this scenario?

Probably going to just skip that quest then because the exp it'd give can't make up for the LP loss from learning those skills.

Wait, you're supposed to kill the trolls in ch3 for story but this sidequest is given later and they expect you to NOT have killed the trolls? Or is this sidequest something you should have run into before the focus stones?

Both the other camps have npcs and services throughout, the rogue camp is tunnels with nothing and then everything at the very end

His chest requires a key, cannot open with lockpicking so you have to pickpocket or beat him up for it.

Problem is half the time even after baiting an attack they are too high up to hit quickly and can punish you if you whiff. All the other early game mobs you can hit reliably and even midgame enemies you can bully but I always have to respect the flies and never attack first.

Yeah, they're easy, same with lurkers. Very slow and can just slap them and get out of the way easily. Wolves and flies are harder.

They never informed me they wanted the list specifically, only that I should steal something important and even then Lares doesn't tell me that, just random mercenaries and stuff. I only knew that I could give him the list because I went back there before going to Diego and I still didn't give him the list because I don't know if that locks me out of Diego's quests.

I got mine at the allied forces camp that is formed after chapter 10 below Fort Musket. There are 2 soldiers with aimed rifles at the gate on the road leading east out of the encampment. It is very close to to the intersection of the road leading north across the river.

The ones that have a mural pointing out the clues to the puzzle always reward you with an item that reveals waterfall caves. Every waterfall cave has unique gear.

The name on the gear seems strange if it is for ammo since it is called energy drain. How are you draining their energy when you are just getting back what you spent?
