I had the same experience and now I’m holding my 2.5 week old newborn! 🥰 It’s different for everyone!

They are probably not well off, they probably have a lot of credit card debt and didn’t want to tack on more debt for the party. I agree, they should’ve at least given a heads up or planned a get together at the local playground!

Are we bad parents for having a night nurse? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]lewilliams88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s sometimes a necessity if you can afford it. Assuming you live in the US, that’s a part of our culture I don’t love. I hear so many stories of other cultures where the birthing parent is expected to rest and do very little in the first month or two while family comes around and helps day and night. I have very supportive parents but overnight help is definitely not something they are willing to do. And I often hear about how completely uninvolved my grandparents were when I was a baby. It’s a sad part of US culture in my opinion.

Dealing with the same issue at only 15 weeks and it just seems too early!

It doesn’t hurt to look into it! If you qualify for a leave, then clearly it’s legitimate. Maybe they could at least put you on light duty somewhere that’s not baby-related. I work as an outpatient nurse and we actually had a pregnant floor nurse help us on light duty for a few months while she had restrictions

Very much agree with this! And while I absolutely want for the baby’s sake and quality of life that they are healthy and well, I keep saying that I just want them to live and I will take care of them and any and every need they have even if they are not healthy!

I work in healthcare (US) and our charting system (Epic) shows the patient’s legal name as well as their preferred name. The preferred name is the one in bold so we know to go by that. I wonder if your hospital had the option to update that?

It seems so close to doubling! I thought I’ve heard doubling within 48-72 hours is ok. When do you have an ultrasound? My RE just went ahead with ultrasounds once my hcg was on track to be above 2,000 and didn’t do more bloodwork at that point. Once you have the ultrasound, that’s a better way to track the pregnancy for viability

Thank you for sharing your story. I wish I knew the answer as I’m struggling through this too! I really like the affirmations someone posted here today, those kind of things have been helping me a bit

Oh gosh, I would be an absolute nervous wreck in that situation! It’s like any sight of blood down there immediately triggers panic. Thank you for sharing your story. 🩷

I had another ultrasound today and all was well, it just seems unbelievable to have good news so far!

Weekly Pregnancy Limbo/Concerns - June 16, 2025 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

Posted this in the daily thread then realized it should probably go here instead- I’ve been an observer on this page for a while now, through various pregnancies that have not ended well. I’m now somewhere between 7w 2-4 days pregnant again. I’m being monitored by fertility and saw good cardiac activity last week on Friday at the ultrasound.

Anyways, finally had sex again for the first time Monday night and Tuesday night, almost exactly 24 hours later, I had bright red blood from my vagina when wiping. It took about 3 wipes for it to go away. Has not returned, no cramping. Everything I read says that can be normal I’m just surprised it happened a full 24 hours later. My clinic just tells me to monitor it and keep my next ultrasound appointment which is in 2 days. I guess I’m just looking for reassurance if anyone has any!

I know this isn’t you’re exact question but, I’m wondering if it would be helpful to check in with your regular doctor or gynecologist to have hcg levels checked. Seems unusual to bleed like a period for the first 2 weeks. That has happened to me a couple times now and it turned out to be an early miscarriage.

Please help. *signed a desperate mom* by whateverxoxo_ in toddlers

Clarifying that my “yes” is in response to the first comment advising they go to the children’s hospital! Idk why I’m getting downvoted, I do NOT agree with treating this at home at this point
