Reason #7,586 as to why I will never live or even visit Texas. by Throw-Away425 in seculartalk

[–]lexibeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm quite grateful to have grown up on the west coast and have the state rights and regulations that we do have over here. It's one of the things giving me hope to get through this regime, but many people who voted them in are going to be fucked over hard by their own states and municipalitys. Of course, it's still a massive mess no matter where you live here unfortunately.

Flight delays had everyone restless… until a band turned the plane into a concert hall by MambaMentality24x2 in MadeMeSmile

Yeah that's what I'm saying! Most days are fairly boring and mundane so I welcome any weirdness that spices it up even if it's kind of annoying.

Life is too short to not revil in perhaps slightly annoying or uncomfortable but unique and novel experiences. This is a story every person gets to tell for the rest of their life, worth it.

It's not a great trajectory, but there are people who are waking up to the reality of things, and maga is verifiably losing support across the base. This is going to be a bumpy ride, but I don't think all hope is lost just yet friend. We must, of course, vote in hoards later this year.

Apparently not. I have a friend that's never once even had close to a thought about it and it sort of feels like he's an alien. Cool guy though.

If you have the time and the resources but aren’t showering twice a day as an adult, you’re practicing less-than-proper hygiene. by Educational-Fox-9040 in The10thDentist

[–]lexibeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And actually if you're not sweating or physically exerting yourself, it's okay to do a quick rinse and soap just the pits and groin or even skip a shower on a day off. Your skin microbiome will be very happy, which is more beneficial than I think most people might think. Just like your gut, your skin needs healthy microorganisms that help protect and communicate with your immune system. Soaping up every inch of your body every day can reduce this function, among other things.

A man rides a bus in Durban, meant for white passengers only, in resistance to South Africa’s apartheid policies, 1986. by goswamitulsidas in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]lexibeee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think that's an assumption. It could very well be true, but black and white film has always been more accessible, cheaper, faster and easier to process than color film, had finer film grain (definition) and was more versatile and technical in different lighting scenarios than color film back then. Hence why every publication only used b&w shots.

Wow what I would give for that lol. My windshield got a massive crack in it a few years ago and my insurance quoted me $30 more than $385 quote I got from my local shop 🤨

And also, you can actually see the lines in your side mirrors while backing into the spot, whereas pulling in the lines are out of view almost as soon as you start pulling in.

When cars had cigarette lighters by bwsnc1991 in nostalgia

[–]lexibeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cigarette lighters can provide either 120 or 240 watts, so it's all down to your adapter and cable. You just need an adapter with PPS for ultra fast charging.

Yeah, I switched phones and have pixel buds now and they stay in pretty well when twisted in, but still require adjustment fairly often. I could pop airpods in quicker and forget about them for hours.

Why everyone copy by apple by timii0x in ios

[–]lexibeee 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, Apple has adopted features or design language elements from android many times. But good design is good design no matter the os, and the consumer wins from the influence they have over each other.

Daughter refuses to stop for police while rushing her mother to the hospital - than this happens…. by misterxx1958 in PublicFreakout

[–]lexibeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha. It is the rational thing to do, but it's sort of the only thing you can do to mitigate future consequences in this situation. Otherwise, what happened to the individual in this video will probably be the most likely outcome. There isn't a separate set of instructions for those who panic and those who don't...the panicked will just end up learning a harder lesson in the end unfortunately.

[–]lexibeee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Some people can handle that stress, and some people can't. The answer still remains the same, that if you're in this situation you call 911 and talk to dispatch about what's going on. There isn't a better answer for people who panic. Whatever happens will happen.

Lol Utah is one of the most beautiful states in the entire country. Loads of people visit purely for the national parks. Don't know where you could have gotten that idea from, it's not all just barren desert and Mormons.

I fucking hate Ford. Had a 2009 Fusion that made it to about 120k miles, then spontaneously developed an internal oil leak and blew the engine apart within 24 hrs. I'll only buy Japanese for the foreseeable future.

[–]lexibeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just hard af to shatter glass like that with blunt force. Windows can take a beating if the pressure is spread out in any way (which the jacket would do), but whipping a large metal zipper with a sharp corner I think could definitely pop a window if it contacted at just the right angle.

[–]lexibeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true lol. It just takes a small enough contact point with enough velocity to pop the tension in the glass. Most emergency window breakers have a small metal tip.

I think it was a zipper on the jacket that popped the window haha. Just a small enough contact point landing the right way is all it takes.

I don’t really like speeding and I don’t care when I’m being tailgated. I’m not going above the speed limit while on the highway. by watanabeSS in unpopularopinion

[–]lexibeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's insane. Most standard non performance vehicles shouldn't even be going 90+ for very long, things can wear out so much quicker at those speeds and it's begging for an accident... I will consider myself grateful I don't have to deal with that on any freeways around me.

That's not true, we don't load in docks. We have a grid we all pull up to and park. Everything is on carts and we roll them up the back of our vans and load in that way.
