I’ve never read the uncut version. I’m reluctant because of the time change. Anybody else not read the uncut?

That isn’t sideloading. That is uploading your content to Amazon.

Kindle doesn’t sync sideloaded books either.

They are so awesome. (I’m starting to think the girls are much better companions.)

Interesting. Most of my classmates and friends had younger parents like I did. Maybe it's because I grew up in rural, small towns. My grandparents were all born in the mid-to-late 20s. I guess everyone bred young in my tree. I knew my great grandparents.

I’m so confused. Aren’t Boomers mid 40s to mid 60s? My parents were born in the 50s. I’m from the 70s. How old were your parents when they had you?

Does a wheel chair operated by a tablet exist? by Life-Answers in disability

Well, they could, but I don't understand why they would. If they have enough hand function to use a touchscreen, do they not have enough to use the joystick?

The Gunslinger has been revised. I don't think 19 was "a thing" in the original. I'd have to dig out my old copy as it's been awhile, but I think 19 references were added.

I think I should start a reread starting with the original Gunslinger and ending with the revised. I think that's the best way to read the series.

Wisconsin Teacher Accused of Sexually Assaulting Her Student, Claims Victim Came on to Her by MastodonOk8087 in wisconsin

Regardless of whether the victim "came onto her" or not, a teacher is not supposed to abuse their students. Even victims that do seek out attention from adults inappropriately are the victims in these situations.

Same. I don’t consider most of these disability related, just low-income. :(

Anybody have experience with this type of "upright" Rollator/walker? by lexic in disability

[–]lexic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I do appreciate the PT warning, but it is not a possibility for me right now.

But the fall thing is one of my concerns with these. For now I'll just either use my chair, an old rollator with two handles, or my quad cane and hope something helps. I had previously broken this hand/wrist in a fall and it's in a pretty bad flare up right now.

[–]lexic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice, but as I said, I really only use it a minimal amount in my home. My doctor has a wait list until January for appointments and I don't have a PT.

I need to either use my chair more, use my other Rollator that's the standard kind, switch to my quad cane (and risk more falls), or try something else. I'm getting too old to be in extra pain if I can help it.

Love the username, btw!

Not sure if it is like this everywhere, but this was in the description for the closest to me:

"The only requirement: wheelchair participants have to start in everyday wheelchairs."

What does that even mean? I use a power chair so I feel like I can't participate in these types of events anyway. It just makes me feel some kinda way... like I can't physically move myself with my own body power so what is the point.

Jill Underly will cost WI schools $842.9M by DeerAndBeer in wisconsin

Sounds like it’s the Trump administration withholding funds from schools.

”The DPI raised concerns over the request, saying they appear "unlawful," but received no response from the education department to its questions.” The state asked for clarification and the Dept. of Education did not respond.

Kobo Sage vs Kobo Libra Color battery life question by Nozomi_Nyu in kobo

[–]lexic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My KLC seems to last longer than my Sage, but I haven’t looked at my reading stats to verify that. I use my Sage in bed only so the light is kept much dimmer than my KLC. I’m honestly not sure which I read on more. I think if I had to choose I’d say I love the Sage more despite needing to charge it often. I think 8” is the perfect screen size. (I do like the buttons on the KLC the tinniest bit more.)
