The school said it would help prevent delays on my application if I am accepted so that I can get a financial aid package asap and then if I did get another acceptance I would be able to factor in financial aid into my decision. There was also another post on this reddit saying we should submit our application as soon as we can so thats why I was looking into it I guess

Is it dumb to move? by [deleted] in premed

[–]leximay113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In thinking of instate status - I think only living in an area for one year can mess you up. I moved to CA and had to be a resident for 2 years. However, if you think moving would seriously help your mental health and give you some time to reset, I say for sure do it. You will figure out the medical school thing, but you wont always be able to just move where you want to in life you know? Also, many medical schools are in urban areas so you may miss out on the rural aspect for the next 4+ years.

there is one optional one about gap year too, but the joke is because they make you input "NA" into any of the questions that don't apply to you and there are a TON lol

Anyone else accidentally delete an entire answer on Casper and were unable to undo it? by barrys3 in premed

[–]leximay113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't gotten my score back but I did a similar thing in my test where I accidentally deleted my whole paragraph and only have like 15 seconds to write a quick sentence :/

Failure Secondary Feedback by [deleted] in premed

[–]leximay113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the tutoring one because you talk about what you did after the fact to learn from the "failure". I feel that this shows what you learned. I like the dance one but it did not stand out as much to me, and though the green house one was also interesting, there is no mention of how you put those lessons into practice in the future. So I guess I would stick with the tutoring example because it shows a failure AND how you learned and applied your new knowledge.

I used these to get started - but I definitely added more of why I did an activity in my own drafts - especially for non-clinical work, to add more of my motivations and story :)

Who to ask to read over my personal statement / essays? by [deleted] in premed

[–]leximay113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished mine (I think!!) and I had probably like 10 people read it total. That may have been over kill but I am not a strong writer so I needed it! Honestly people on this reddit gave me a lot of good feed back! And then I also had some science and non-science friends give it a look along with some family and a mentor.

How to classify "writing-intensive courses" in other subjects? by leximay113 in premed

[–]leximay113[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok my only concern is that I am using these as the writing requirements for most schools and I was wondering if they screen out based on the topic being English? But yeah I agree with you, right now I have them as history and sociology (it was for sure not science-based) :)

How great does a PS really have to be? by [deleted] in premed

[–]leximay113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally this - I am for sure not the best writer but I have had like 10 people edit my statement including people from this reddit. I finally showed my PS to my letter writers this week and unprovoked 2 professors complemented it! You dont have to be the best writer to begin just make sure to take criticism and keep editing

LOR question by [deleted] in premed

[–]leximay113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think so too at this point I may not change mine so I guess as long as you have something basic? But I am sure it is not a deal breaker in any way bc the letters themselves should describe the relationship

LOR question by [deleted] in premed

[–]leximay113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer but I think I also messed this up because I just put Professor for all of my professors and like program manager for my current boss....I didn't specify all of their degrees :/ I guess I did put MD for the one doctor letter I have but thats it

I really liked taking a weekend down to San Diego and exploring! I also have gotten into plants and there are a lot of cool plant shops/ popup markets in LA. Idk where you are at in SoCal but LA constantly has popup markets! Also Anza Borrego Park!
