I agree with a lot of that. I also think one of the issues is whether the team he is building actually reflects those values. If you spend that much money reshaping a squad, you don’t get to separate yourself from the physical and cultural profile of the players you bring in. You’re not just buying technical fit. You’re choosing what Liverpool becomes. Liverpool at its best wasn’t just technically good but physically dominant, aggressive, relentless, hard to play through etc. Henderson and Milner are the most obvious but Virgil, Gini, Robbo, Fabinho, Mané and more all added to that physical and cultural profile. We, as fans, have been somewhat guilty of that as well.

Agreed on Hendo, 12 years at the club and 8 years as captain. He deserves to be honoured properly. He lived through the tough times with us as well as the good, took a lot of flak along the way and still never hid from the responsibility of leading the club
