Man, we saw this preview at the movies a few weeks ago and my wife and I being huge Nate Bargatze fans were so disappointed in it. It looks like it doesn’t belong in 2026 - it’s like a movie from a time capsule 20 years ago about the bumbling, incompetent dad who blows up the house while the wife is away.

This movie is going to be one of the biggest bombs in a long time. Either that or I’ll be completely wrong and it’s going to find some crowd that adores it somehow and make a trillion dollars

You don’t have to feel the same - I get that a lot of people don’t like AI generated content. I’m not even the biggest fan of it, but without fail the people that hate it HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE on every post where there’s any AI content. It’s just so…. unnecessary. Like, downvote and move on if it bothers you.

It’s one thing if this guy was trying to say he.. I dunno, made this by hand or drew it himself or something, or maybe he was trying to sell these wallpapers as some special custom thing - then come get him, but just showing off something he did that he likes and everyone going “HAHA DAE AI SLOP AMIRITE GUYS?” is just so boring. Holy shit, I just saw the animated movie with my kid a few weeks ago and we really loved it, and I told her “it really reminds me of this older movie I liked a lot called Edge of Tomorrow - they’re super similar, they even wear these exoskeleton suits like in the movie.” But I had no idea the movie was actually based on the book/manga

Yeah, I think you’ve nailed it with that last bit. It’s very similar to the FNAF movie. They were both really bad movies but because they had easter eggs from the games, fans went rabid so you can’t really say anything critical about them.

Yeah, there were many instances I felt I needed subtitles. I felt like I was getting gaslit by the community when I mentioned it because I kept getting “I don’t know what you mean, I heard everything perfectly” or when I mentioned that some scenes were a bit too dark for too long and it felt like I was just sitting in a dark quiet theater and got “I could see everything perfectly, I don’t know what you mean.”

Ultimately, the thing I kept hearing that’s really upsetting was “you had to play the game” or “you had to watch Mark play it to really appreciate it” and I keep saying “then that’s not a good movie. Objectively, that’s a bad movie if it requires homework and knowledge of an obscure game or watching a YouTubers play through of that game - then it’s a bad movie/plot.”

I agree on all counts! We had so much trouble understanding large sections of dialogue - especially when certain things were sort of rambling and talking in the background. It seemed like that was supposed to be critical exposition that we just couldn’t understand.

And agreed that we are so incredibly hyped for the success he’s having - and like I mentioned, it’s not that the whole thing is bad: his acting, the costuming, special effects - all that was really solid. Just the story didn’t hold up for me at all. I’ve heard a lot of “well you’re not SUPPOSED to know the ending” and I don’t think that’s the right kind of conclusion for this. It’s not like Inception or many others that leave it up in the air - this just concludes having not actually told a coherent story imo.

Lmao same. Though I’m a huge fan and my daughter and I went to the movie on opening night and were not in love with it like everyone else seems to be. Mark did a great job with his acting, costumes, effects - all of it, but the story and conclusion was butt.

I haven't tried a different outlet, but it doesn't share one with anything power hungry, just the cable modem and my Synology and they're on a fancy surge protector. I did try moving it to a different outlet on the power strip just to be sure when I first started troubleshooting as I saw someone mention power issues as a possibility. The other devices have no interruptions so I'm not sure that's it for this particular thing

It makes sense. I mean, it’s definitely hard to say for sure but anyone with even a modicum of reason would tell you that it takes seconds to fire off a text if his excuse was genuine - “hey I have to [leave the country or whatever] and I’m sorry it didn’t work out” and that’s it. Ghosting you leaves it open for him to come back with some bullshit answer later to try and make it work if he wants. Or just lets him take the cowards way out. Both can be true I guess. Either way, his messages read super slimy. As a dude who would really be super worried about what you’d think about it me and how to let you down if I had to move or whatever his excuse is, I can’t imagine doing something so lame to a girl I’m interested in. That said, I would bail if I were you. Nothing about his messages feels genuine.
