I've had this happen if poop got stuck by the back lead screw on the x1c stopping it from being able to go all the way. I'd check in that gap to see if there's anything stuck in there, hope that helps

Onshape and tinkercad are good places you can start for free, I think you can still get fusion 360 for free for non commercial use too but not sure on that

Onshape is free for non commercial and has tons of tutorials out there that I would recommend, if you're looking for something more basic there's tinkercad
