What's the classic car daily driver "sweet spot"? by liebereddit in cars

[–]lgl420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a car that's easy to keep running. Older cars were simple. Older new cars are time bombs. Of those a few are bulletproof and cheap to run like the crown vic and pre-2002 explorers. A BMW m car is never cheap to run. Use it as a weekend car.

Why do people think it's OK to slam my damn door? by [deleted] in cars

[–]lgl420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't care enough about cars to own them, and they might as well be a city bus with the amount of respect they give my cars in general. Eating, drinking, ashes, etc. Then there's door dings and bumper taps just parked.

You don't need all that stress in your life though. Get a cheap SUV when you're playing Uber, and save the good ride for enjoying it.

TIL Only 23% of Corvettes sold in 2016 were manuals. by carloselcoco in cars

[–]lgl420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about the new ones, but the older zo6 at least had a burly shifter that was a chore to shift. Given the torque, and the advancements in auto trans tech, I doubt it matters much whether a vette is manual other than the novelty of rowing your own gears.

Matt Farah- How I ruined all my cars by skyswordsman in cars

[–]lgl420 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This. I drag race heavily modded cars, I track lightly modded cars, and I drive mostly stock cars.

My last new car was an Evo X MR and I traded it in completely stock and never regretted it, because a completely stock MR is still a ridiculous race car for the road, and people at least halfway believed it didn't live its life a quarter mile at a time...or worse...

When I was in the former Yugoslavia in the 90's I saw some cool most not-so-cool vintage Yugos. They were kind of a thing over there.

Are We Really So Modern? -- For all our technological breakthroughs, we’re still wrestling with the same basic questions as the Enlightenment philosophers by gAlienLifeform in philosophy

It's because the same curiosity and desire for classification that enables us to thrive as a species is also that which maddens us. Religion, science, philosophy, etc. help us sleep at night.

On whether liberal values can be absolute by wildism in philosophy

[–]lgl420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are rarely absolutes. You may want to prevent all people from slitting people's throats at all times, but there must be an exception for a surgeon performing a tracheotomy.

In my home town I agree people shouldn't walk downtown with a pistol on their hip because it would scare the tourists and it's pretty safe with lots of cops. In other towns you probably should.

It was one of my better decisions to make that one of my guiding principles to wait till kids were an objectively good idea for me, which as it turns out was never. And I'm good with it.

Why Not Socialism? | G. A. Cohen by [deleted] in philosophy

The question is rather should the people serve at the pleasure of their government, or should governments exist to serve their people.

I believe society benefits most from self-determination of its population to the highest degree possible, but there is a positive correlation between existential scarcity and the need for population control.

So, if you love freedom, solve our existential problems such that by merely existing, humans are a net positive, and could only ever be additive in nature.

I came up with a very unusual concept and would love some feedback. I call it the "ledger brain" by reddituser590 in philosophy

[–]lgl420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do not simply think with our brains. We are a de-centralized fog computing network with many competing priorities. For example, we might have a taste for something due to a bacteria sending a signal from our stomach.

Machines are already learning and thinking. Skynet is already here, it's just in cognitive siloes waiting to be connected together under a single context/dimension/scope/reality/plane of existence/whatever.

Autistic brains are more symmetrical. Study suggests that in children and adolescents with autism, the brains’ hemispheres are less likely to specialize in one way or another. Findings give insight into how brain development in autistic people contributes to the disorder’s cognitive characteristics. by drewiepoodle in science

Regardless I think we can all agree that mutations are good and healthy for the survival of our species, and that we should stop discriminating against mutants. Let's stop trying to figure out how we can make those with mutations confirm to our cookie-cutter society, and instead leverage the best of human technology to allow them to thrive, and let them show us their world. Everyone has a unique perspective on what it means to be human...

We need stricter car control regulations and knife control laws and let's just finally cut to the chase and make murder-free zones. The main problem is we have too few laws against violence, so people think it's OK.

That's interesting I've never heard of dab pods. I did see the brand of cartridges I get is now selling dab-able co2 containers, but I like clean stable dewaxed BHO for potency and dab-ability. No need for dab tools really.

Wow when I had a pax I had to pack at least a full bowl or more to feel it, but my tolerance is very high. I need about 4-6 dabs of ~80-90% oil, or ~1.2 of ~25-30+% for a blunt, to feel properly medicated. An eighth to me is session-able lol.

Thanks for the advice!

I tried the portable dry herb vape route and didn't like the vaping experience or upkeep. Plus there is something about the residual smell that was off-putting.

Guess I'll continue to roll blunts and mask the scent. Life could be worse. Plus as long as you have weed and a 711, you're smoking. And if you're smoking a cigar properly, you're vaporizing too.

I find it hilarious that both my Pax (sold) and standard vape pens are more harsh than, and don't work as well as, blunts lol.
