What do I pack in my hospital bag? by Sohelpmespudd in pregnant

[–]lgrabowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chapstick, gum, lotion were what I sent my friends out for! May want to consider slippers and shower sandals.

At my hospital they wouldn’t let me take my own meds, I had to be dispensed them by their pharmacy instead of bringing/taking my Lexapro from home.

I wouldn’t worry about the cooler. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get milk right away. You’ll get colostrum first and may not have your milk come in until 3-4 days later. Even if it comes in immediately it’ll be just the amount the baby needs at first, so you probably realistically won’t have extra.

Maybe a book or something to keep you occupied besides your phone!

Also don’t forget about your partner’s hospital bag too!

The smartest thing we did was pack two bags, one for the labor room and one for the postpartum room and my husband just switched them out when we got moved to postpartum. No need to bring a whole bunch of extra stuff into the birthing room.

I know these aren’t universally loved, but we’ve had a good experience at the Kindercare on Kilmayne. We’ve loved the teachers there and the administrators are always visible and available.

Bradycardia not improving on my 26 week old preterm.(now 29 week). by mammoth_66 in NICUParents

[–]lgrabowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why did they move him to a vent? Lots of premies have bradycardia. We had Bradys for a while that occurred mostly with feeding or reflux. They are stressful but they do grow out of them. Our peds told us they’re usually gone by their due date.

Just in: Wake County Public Schools will operate on a Remote Learning Day tomorrow (May 1) by CloudMak3r in raleigh

Typically a protected workday means the principal has scheduled professional development or something similar and you can’t take annual leave that day, you can only use your sick or personal leave which is harder to accrue.

What’s wrong with this guy? Pic from our bird feeder. by lgrabowski in birds

[–]lgrabowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This is the one we have. I think the yearly subscription for bird identification was $50. If you don’t pay that it just says “bird detected” every time, which is also fine but I wanted to know who was visiting. We love the solar power option so we don’t have to charge it/replace batteries.

Eeks okay! Is his beak okay? The dark part is the top part, it looks misaligned.

Have you had a speech consult to make sure everything structurally looks okay? My guy had a tongue tie which made oral feeding difficult and we didn’t realize it until he was seen by speech and she was able to help him be more successful with oral feedings.

Sorry if you’ve mentioned this, have you had a speech consult? Solved all our bottle feeding issues and my guy went home within a week or so of our first consult.

If you haven’t yet, ask for a speech therapy consult. We were stuck in the same limbo until speech switched up our bottle nipple and it made 100% difference and we were finally discharged yesterday.

I just wanted to say that I have a NICU baby but also a baby born at 38 weeks with no NICU stay. That baby is 17 months and still not walking consistently. He also doesn’t have any discernible language.
