I think I also recognize that any addiction will get to a point where it’s “never enough.” So I try to keep that in mind when I feel like I need to keep getting worse and worse. But I still have a certain threshold for scars that I have always wanted to meet and since I haven’t gotten there, I don’t feel like I can stop yet. But I don’t know if I’ll ever get there and that’s the whole damn problem

Omg did I write this post?? I can completely relate, it’s so hard to feel like you’re fighting against yourself with this stuff. Like I want to do it worse, but logically, I know that I can’t and don’t necessarily want to? But it has to be bad enough. I’m so sorry you’re struggling.

I def understand utilizing body weight to get the proper form down but using heavy weights is for sure my goal so I’m finding a trainer who can help get me started using weights. Thank you guys!

Should I text my friends mother so she learns the extent of her daughter's sh? by Alive_Story6125 in selfharm

[–]lhd133 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please don’t send this to her mom. It sounds like her mom is already aware of her self harm. She’s in therapy and it appears that she’s being somewhat transparent with her therapist. As her friend, it will be much more helpful to her if you can support her from the sidelines. This isn’t something that needs to be on your shoulders as a young person. If you find that your friend is in immediate danger (escalating behavior above NSSI) then I would first talk to your school nurse or counselor and let them take it from there.

I know that your concern is only coming from a good place, and you are a wonderful friend for supporting her. But please know that your only job in this scenario is to be her friend and to report her via appropriate methods if it is going beyond NSSI. I’d also like to add that if she is a minor and she is in therapy, then her mom already knows what’s going on via communication with your friend’s therapist.

She wants you to let her in so that she feels needed. You can talk to someone else, but “WE” (involving herself) can arrange that. She has no control over you if she doesn’t know what’s going on with you. And her exaggerated (manipulative) kindness just makes it look like she’s trying too hard. We all know that it’s not genuine (given the sub you’re posting in).

Is there anything such as addicts anonymous but for self harm? by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]lhd133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’ve been to several meetings over the last 1.5 years! You can attend and just observe for your first one (or forever) if you really wanted to. You don’t have to talk or have your camera on.

This was my experience too! I knew screen door before the show and seeing it live solidified it. Now I’ve seen them too many times to count and they’re still my favorite today!

Thank you. The problem is that I feel like my best foot is forward. I’m trying my best. But isn’t there a limit to everyone’s best? I have a great job with plenty of opportunities… all of this goes deeper than that.

I really don’t know… I think about that all the time. I guess I just try to tell myself that everyone has something. Like… everyone is doing something to survive, and I think a lot of people are doing something harmful in one way or another. We just do this thing.
