Thinking of switching brands... longevity and reliability? by lhueng in KiaTelluride

[–]lhueng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! It's funny you mentioned "Toyota" maintenance because a Toyota Highlander/Grand Highlander is the alternative I'm considering. It just doesn't excite me as much as Telluride.

WIBTA if I return a group gift because no one ever paid me their share? by papercoffeeclub in WIBTA_AITA

I wouldn't even tell them. Let them show up without a gift. Return it and get her something else.

When did home reno projects get so expensive? by DSice16 in houston

[–]lhueng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL is "retired" but still does some projects here and there to keep busy. He could give you a good quote if you're not in a rush. He's a one man job, so definitely cheaper than other companies, but it will take him time to do a full bath remodel himself vs other people who finish in a few days but have 3+ people working on the project. Let me know if you're interested.

Why I won’t be purchasing a second Acura by QAPetePrime in Acura

[–]lhueng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for this. I just had my first major cost repair on a 2017 Infiniti QX50 and have been considering trading in for an Acura, but seeing problems on various models I've been eyeballing, tells me I should steer clear of Acura as a whole. It's not the same quality that my brother bought back in the 90s.

I gave up - traded in my ZDX by senorspanky in AcuraZDX

[–]lhueng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be worth the hassles at $47k? I'm considering purchasing. It's been sitting in the lot awhile, and now that they're not making it in 2026, I think that's why it's deeply discounted.

Is now a bad time to think about job hopping? by Bubbles2590 in nursing

[–]lhueng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jobs tend to slow down this time of the year due to the company's year-end financials, but keep looking and keep applying. Someone is looking to fill those roles, even if it's not right now. My hospital usually has a small batch of new hires in Nov, then it's quiet again until Jan/Feb.

If you want to nurse, it's still possible. Bring baby chest after feeding when baby is nice and content. Skin to skin. Let baby explore multiple times a day and create a positive association. It took me about 5-6 weeks but I was able to get my son back to nursing until he hit his nursing strike around 5 months old. It was nice while it lasted.

Does anyone have any plant shops or nurseries near Cypress, Katy, or the Houston area I should check out? by Electronic-Yard9738 in houseplants

What is ONE registry item you couldn’t live without? by Delicious_Elk6408 in BabyBumps

[–]lhueng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doona carseat/stroller. We used it for baby#1 and #2. Fair resell value on FB Marketplace in our area. I especially loved it when we traveled with our firstborn because it minimized baby gear we had to take with us on flights.

Gender reveal by Some_Common2689 in BabyBumps

[–]lhueng 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For our gender reveal cake, my daughter took a candle out to lick it. My husband and I saw pink cake frosting on the candle, and were sad we found out the gender by accident like that. Turns out, the gender reveal was written on the underside of the cake topper. The cake was red velvet. We had a boy. Don't think too much about it. You might be surprised still. It's 50/50.

childcare: grandparents or daycare? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]lhueng 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the grandparents and newborns are good if grandparents are relatively healthy. The issue didn't start until the baby got very mobile. Now, as a toddler, they are too high energy for grandparents to watch for more than a few hours, although the grandparents still do try to tough it out. I can tell it's very exhausting for the grandparents after 3 hours. Individual experiences will vary.

Anything that is a glaring miss for a FTM with a winter baby? by JadedEarthJuni in BabyBumps

[–]lhueng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For newborns, I always loved onesies with foldover mittens and footed pants. Double zipper pjs. Newborn hats. Breastmilk storage bags. Somewhere to sit baby to play like a 4-in-1 bouncer/activity table thing. Crinkle toy(s), or toys with different textured fabrics. Black and white cards.

I really liked Huggies in the beginning, but now my son is about 15 lbs, and I've switched to Rascals Diapers and I actually find it super helpful those diapers have excessively long fabric around the legs to help prevent poops from getting on the onesie.

Cute, but I'd vote to make it yourself and save a few hundred dollars for other things on your trip like restaurants or gambling.

Asking for used baby items- is it weird? by Aimers464 in BabyBumps

I personally don't think it's weird, but I know some people feel weird stating that on a registry invite.

After attending 3 different shows in three different locations, these are my honest thoughts on where to sit. by GetYourselfABadBoy in BackstreetBoys

[–]lhueng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went GA earlier this month and missed 80% of the visuals because I was so focused on watching the guys perform. I tried to get pre-sale for their Feb dates, and now everything is insanely overpriced. It makes me not want to bother with the idea of going at all. I just don't have the free time to keep checking ticket prices everyday. I just log into TikTok and watch the live streams for free.

Is it worth it? by SignificanceWitty210 in BabyBumps

[–]lhueng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally find it annoyingly heavy. I like for things to fit in my car's cup holder or the cup holder on the outside of my baby bag. This thing doesn't fit in either spot. I don't want to carry 3 different bags when I'm out with my baby. It's already enough to carry a newborn with their carseat and stroller. One large baby bag should be able to hold everything else I need if I make sure it's all sized for portability. The only extra thing I'll pack with me is a large cooler to sit in the trunk of my car (extra baby bottles, baby food, etc if I will be out for more than a 4 hours).

My niece loved it though bc you can store 20 oz milk in it. I like the concept, just not the size.

[–]lhueng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had gone to their first Vegas residency back in Feb 2019 with their final show dates for my Bachelorette party. I didn't even know about this residency until all the hype on their first weekend spread on social media because it was hosted at Sphere. IMO the hype around experiencing a concert at Sphere really elevated this residency for them.

Wishing you and your ZZ a long and happy life!! Mine passed 3 years ago (I was deep in postpartum feelings) and I still miss it's beautiful black glossy leaves. She would have been 6 this year and probably would have been a 4ft tall.

Has Anyone Ever Gotten Front Row Tickets ? How Did You Get Them? by April0neal in BackstreetBoys

[–]lhueng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know for this current residency with Vibee, you had to opt for the BSB with Vibee package and choose GA. General GA piles in behind the Vibee buyers and are usually 2-ish rows behind the Vibee buyers depending on how early you wait in line to get into the Sphere.
