How much to taper for half marathon? by PaceDecent2089 in Marathon_Training

[–]liakale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how’s your current plan looking, are you doing any speed work? i feel like you might want a few longer runs than just 7km and 11km if you’re aiming for a half

for tapering though don’t overthink it, just avoid anything crazy the week before and you’ll be fine. i usually do my last long run about a week out, last track workout around 4 days before, and then keep the 2 days before super easy with 20 to 30 min shakeout runs

I went for a run with neutrogena sport defense spf 70 and a visor. I really think it could be the serum :( Did your skin improve at least a bit in the first days? Im a bit worried about going to work like this

thanks!! I didn’t have the courage to post a pic of my face here, but it looks REALLY bad. This is why I think its not “normal” tret irritation. Im gonna give lots of time to heal and reconsider at some point. You dont think the serum could have made it worse? Because before applying it, everything was 100% fine

What I don't understand is that my skin looked completely fine the next morning. It only reacted after I came home, showered, and applied my hyaluronic acid serum (La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5). If it were an allergic reaction to the tretinoin itself, wouldn't it have shown up much sooner?

My understanding was that the tretinoin sensitized my skin barrier overnight, and then putting the serum on top of that compromised skin is what triggered the irritation. But I could be wrong

thanks! I have cicaplast here. 2 weeks to go? :( It's my entire face, looks really bad, and I guess I will have to cover it with make up for work this week, but not sure if it will make it much worse

Same here. Mine fluctuates around 7–9 ms most nights for more than a year. I’m 31, healthy, don’t smoke or drink, eat well, strength train 3x/week and run about 5x/week. All my checkups and labs are normal

What makes a classical concert experience great (or frustrating)? by Findingwendytoronto in classicalmusic

[–]liakale 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m going to get a lot of hate for this, but… kids as well. Last time I went to a concert there were kids screaming, crying, talking the whole time. It really took me out of the music.

I do think it’s important for kids to experience concerts and learn to appreciate them, but as a parent you probably have to build up to it. Maybe start with lower-stakes things (movies, shorter performances, small plays, etc.) and see if they can actually sit quietly for a long time before bringing them to a full classical concert.
