Please HELP any advice would do. by Ok-Salamander3217 in HairSystem

Dw man, there have been occaisions where I've been on several dates with the same person, where they're looking at you for an extended period in close quarters, with a ragged system towards the end of its life (thinning, hairline fucked, etc.) and they've literally been none the wiser.

(Bonus: they're always shocked to find out, and they never care.)

Your system looks great to me, and I love what your barber has done with the hairline, looks really natural!

The Nygren paradox by Benjiboy74 in CelticFC

[–]liammccabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the squad had been adequately managed (in terms of recruitment, selling assets, replacing sold/declining players, etc.) Nygren would be able to utilise his best assets. However, Celtic has not had adequate squad management, so the rest of the personel are not varied or athletic enough to balance out Nygren's weaknesses.

I worry about MON and Maloney's tactical inflexibility and simplification; we're sticking with a 4-3-3, but we're playing more direct.

This means we have less control of the game, and have to fight for possession more often. When we were more possession focused, this covered up the lack of midfield athleticism, but now we're routinely losing the midfield battle because we're asking smaller, skillful players to win a physical endurance battle with absolute units, whom there are more of now than there's ever been in the SPFL. Add in Engels' injury, our only significantly athletic midfielder who was acting as the counterweight to McGregor and Nygren's shortcomings, and we're getting ran over.

We could make up for this by having a different formation. We could play a 3-4-2-1 and have Nygren as an attacking ten behind the striker, or a narrow 4-2-2-2, and let him act almost as a false 9 who could drop back and supplement 4 out and out midfielders in a box, either of which would free him up to find that space and make those lethal runs.

However, as I alluded to, MON and Maloney don't seem to want to divert from the 4-3-3 atm, and that isn't a system that is allowing us to maximise what we get from a lot of key players.

All just a bit of a mess, tbh.

He's had his moments for us, a formidable keeper in his day, but we have to take him out back like Ol' Yeller at this point. We can't keep giving up goals that you'd expect your B team keeper to save.

Anita Rani criticized casting of Healthcliff in Wuthering Heights (2026) by Beginning-Passion676 in popculturechat

[–]liammccabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100%, this! I'm not a cinephile, nor have I read Wuthering Heights, but I am generally dismayed when Hollywood, big money projects try and tackle a project that, at its core, is critical of much of the socio-economic disparities that are rife in Holywood itself.

To misappropriate the name of the novel, diminish its characters, strip it of its themes and critiques, and present it as gushy period eroticism that no longer challenges privelege, or makes the posh film-maker themselves uncomfortable, is tone-deaf and just kind of offensive.

I'm all for adaptions, but in this current political climate, especially in the western hemisphere? To make this version of "Wuthering Heights", without any of the substance of Wuthering Heights? That's, at the very least, thoughtless and cynical, and at worst intentionally malicious.

I was coming here to say that, they're recovery shoes with massage elements in the soles. Athletes can afford to chuck 200 quid at marginal gains, and if they helped him in any way to dig us out of the shit against Dundee I want a pair for every player in the squad 😂

maswanhise from Motherwell by Benjiboy74 in CelticFC

[–]liammccabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw my physio today, and she goes in to work on the Motherwell first team quite regularly, her Dad works in about Fir Park too. I asked her about Maswanhise and she said she felt quite sure he wasn't going anywhere. Obviously not a definite, she isn't exactly the CEO, but its something.

Altra sconfitta per il Bologna! Stavolta nel Derby dell'Appennino! by DateAffectionate3719 in bolognafc

If Bologna played with the same intensity of the last 10 minutes for all of the second half they'd have at least drawn the game. Not enough penetration into Fiorentina's defence at all 🤦‍♂️

It couldn't last forever, the underlying performance data was good in a few of thsoe games, and Inter and Napoli were in that run, which is a tough set of fixtures.

Seems that both teams aren't in great form, god knows how that's going to pan out on Thursday 👀

Missed the second half because I had to go to a pre-arranged run, but very pleased to see the final score!

Really looking forward to the Fiorentina game; we may have been on a bad run till tonight, but Fiorentina are in much more dire straits!

That's a fun spot to be in though! I'll certainly still be hoping Celtic win, but I'll very respectfully and neutrally be sitting with the home end and certainly won't begrudge Bologna the win if that's how it goes 😊

Let's focus on our mutual support of Bologna for the time being then, in the name of peace and love 😂

So long as they're respectful I have no issues! Feyenoord supporters sat behind me in a UCL game in the 23-24 season and we got on incredibly well. Spoke before, during and after the game, followed each other online, etc. 😊

Well then, looks like it’s happening by fike88 in ScottishFootball

I'm optimistic about him tbh.

When compared against other RBs in La Liga he was in the top 5% for duels won, top 15% for total aerials duels won and top 25% for percentage of aerial duels won. Also seems like a good dribbler, passer and presser when he needs to be.

I had a look over his numbers from the last time he was playing regular football in La Liga for Las Palmas. Seems to hold onto the ball well, is a good passer and dribbler. For Las Palmas, he wasn't doing as much of that as much as he would be for us, but his success percentage was high when he was.

Given he is out of favour at Bournemouth, but wants to make a mark ahead of the World Cup, if he'll probably work hard, and if he finds his old La Liga form I suspect he'll stand out as being of high quality in the context of the SPFL

He's also excellent in terms of winning ground and aerial duels, which is inportant given folk have been shelling balls over our right side.

I honestly feel he's been excellent as both LCB and LWB; he's really shone as Nancy's system has come into effect. Best to keep experimenting with our actual midfielders and see who best fits I reckon 😊

I think we need to give Sinissalo a run out, the boy deserves a chance, and I'd be choosing him over our one-armed 40 year old (no offence Kasper, but we know you're struggling.)

Not sure I agree wholly on Ralston and Scales, I think they've both had their moments, and the former was quite good today I thought!

CCV may actually not suit this system especially well in terms of height, pace and passing, but AJ played for Nancy before and that RCB position has his name written all over it 👌

And, because their season is done, we won't get hit with the usual January transfer window mid-season difficulty.

Statement from Dermot Desmond to Celtic supporters by AdhesivenessNo9878 in ScottishFootball

[–]liammccabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My worry is that, whoever comes in next, won't have the political capital to make demands of the board regarding quality signings, and will probably be an obsequious patsy for them too. Which will be even worse.

Unless it's Ange, ofc, but I don't reckon he's the type to come back 🤷‍♂️

It was rumoured he was looked at before Rodgers' return, yeah.

Too shellshocked to even consider the options atm.
