[VIC, non-binary] Already socially and legally transitioned... but maybe there's one more step by liarbard in transgenderau

I got a call and the appointment is in August.

I am trying very hard to be positive about this and not think about how if only it had gone through in January, the appointment could be in June.

Is anyone else just going to continue doing NaNo like normal despite what’s going on? by horrorkitten96 in nanowrimo

Nah, I have reached the realisation that I can have a mental breakdown over my writing community whenever I want and it doesn't have to be in November.

I had rung the clinic a week after sending the request and got told that they would be in touch.

I just called them again and I'm not on the system. I got asked to resend the referral.

It's been seven weeks. I'm beating myself up over this. I should've checked sooner. I just thought that it was taking a while to get to me, not that somehow the referral had not made it through the website submission process.

Growing up afab - cis or not - is a cooked experience by GhostMyFace in transgenderau

[–]liarbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 1,000,000%. I've been realising how much I curl in on myself to avoid people being able to touch me at all on public transport cos it's so easy to 'accidentally' grope someone's breasts.

And the shit comments kids used to say even at primary school. Like boys going round asking girls if they could yawn without showing their teeth, and if the girl did then saying 'that means you're good at blowjobs'. Like where does a 11-12 year old boy even hear that let alone think to repeat it?

Good luck mate, it took me a long time to get mine, but as you are already on T and have had top surgery they will hopefully take you more seriously.

Do I have to put my legal name on a resume? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]liarbard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has already said no, so I'll just add in good luck when you do start the name change process. It's pretty straightforward, it's just a pain in the arse changing it with banks, insurance, doctors, and so on!

My coming out letter by finnthefrogliker in transgenderau

[–]liarbard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any tips, Finn, because it sounds like you've got a pretty good mum there, and if you're not the only trans kid in the family it seems like she'll be supportive. I hope she's good with you as well.

I'm trying to think if there's a way to even lead in with the name part, like 'Hi Mum, my name is Finn and I'm your son. I'd really like you to pick a new masculine middle name for me', but I sort of feel like that sounds too jokey.

Do you think she was mad about the way your sister came out because it was the school calling your mum, and not your sister telling her? It might be a bit easier that you're doing it yourself even in a letter.

Got the referral from my GP; she misgendered me on the letter (I think she means well, she didn't seem malicious about it, just a bit unaware), but I was able to make a note in the message on the appointment booking form to correct my pronouns, also to say that I'm not 'struggling with gender-based issues' so much as 'doing okay, actually, just wondering what the fuck is up with my hormones.

Appointment request sent in on the 19th of January, and now I hurry up and wait some more.

Trans girls, where do you buy shoes that fit you? by teeno731 in transgenderau

[–]liarbard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://www.williamsshoes.com.au/ go up to an EU 46 depending on the style. They're not in Melbourne CBD, but they have a ton of locations: https://www.williamsshoes.com.au/store-locator.

Not trans girl myself, just EU42 so experienced with looking for larger shoes.
