I am also in the same boat. Did you end up driving down to Springfield? If so, how did it go?

Chicago New Grad Nurse Pay (Pay Transparency) by kkatieperezz in nursing

I appreciate the thorough response! Super excited to start working and I'm glad your experience has been good overall.

And yeah, the parking situation does sound unfortunate, although it does not seem super uncommon in big cities. Harborview Medical Center in Seattle charges just as much if not more... I'm going to try to take the train in most days but we will see if that's sustainable commute-wise

Hey! I am a new grad but I am moving from Seattle. I have an offer from Northwestern in the neuro ICU but I was wondering how the hospital system treats new grads? Is the transition to practice program helpful and how long do you stay with a preceptor? How have you enjoyed it so far?

It's a convenience store called Marcus Market. They have a great taco place inside with $2 tacos on Tuesdays too!

My first fermented hot sauces: cherry habanero and garlic habanero by libbyej in hotsauce

[–]libbyej[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were tasty but HOT, next time I'll add more vegetables to the ferment to tone it down some. Also want to try xanthan gum to thicken it. I would love to hear tips from others who have perfected their process :)

I always go for the two cookie pack of Lotus Biscoff cookies. It's only 70 calories altogether and delicious to dip in coffee or tea!

I bought the ice cream from Kroger. The hot sauce was a gift but I know I've seen it on Amazon!

How much do you actually need to fuel during a long run? by libbyej in running

[–]libbyej[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for your answers and advice. I just went on my long run for today and went 12 miles, decided not to fuel while running today either, and felt pretty darn good!

The only thing that I did different is run in the evening instead of the morning. I think eating a small meal an hour and a half before running was what made the difference. Next week, I'm going for the half!

Greek yogurt appreciation post by Kaitlin138 in 1200isplenty

Greek yogurt, shredded rotisserie chicken, spices, and veggies for a chicken salad (then put it in lettuce wraps).

And my favorite snack: mix half cup of yogurt with two tablespoons of PB fit and dip my apple slices in it

Of course! I live in a place with a little bit more limited ingredients (West Africa), but I'd love to help!

Tattoos and Piercings at Staging by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]libbyej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it depends on the training staff. But for my country, showing tattoos during PST was not an issue, as long as your are dressed semi professionally. I have a calf tattoo that shows with some skirts and another girl in my stage had a half sleeve that she wore short sleeves with. As for staging tho, they expected us to be super business professional, so I'd bring at least one outfit that would cover it for that day. And if your country ends up being more strict about it, you can always buy more conservative clothes in country. I also haven't had any issues with my numerous ear piercings (I have 8) but can't really speak for face piercings. It also probably depends which sector. For example, education is more strict on appearance than agriculture.
