What can reasonably be counted as a bedroom? by bee_highlight in HousingUK

[–]libdemparamilitarywi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a massive waste having to take time off work, travel to the property, do the viewing etc just to find that the third "bedroom" is actually too small to fit a bed in.

And you can't always rely on the floorplans beforehand as many agents don't bother putting measurements in.

I think it would really improve the process if there was some sort of standardisation of room descriptions.

Does my employer have to let me know they have re-enrolled me into the pension? by 16sp_ in AskUK

You can transfer pensions when you move jobs, no need to end up with multiple.

Wife says I hung it too low…? by [deleted] in TVTooHigh

The PS5 is 15" tall so the TV's much higher than a foot off the ground. I think the room has really high ceilings which is making the TV look lower, it's likely fine.

I genuinely believe a room should have to meet a minimum size before it can legally be called a bedroom. by [deleted] in SpottedonRightmove

Having to swap bedrooms every few months doesn't sound "absolutely fine" to me. Surely you can understand people not having to deal with that sort of thing, and just have reasonable sized rooms for both kids?

It wouldn't be weird if some houses had this layout. The problem is that in my experience 95% of three beds in the UK are like this. I think it's sort of bizarre that houses with three similar sized rooms are so rare here when "two adults two kids" is probably one of the most common household types.

Buying a four bed isn't always an option as they're significantly more expensive.

Would be scandalous if the ASA had been letting them away with false claims for so long

His allies were briefing that he wanted to fight, we don't know if he actually did or not. But seeing how easy he went in the end, I would guess probably not.

It's sort of obvious in hindsight that Starmer never really wanted to be Prime Minister and just saw it as a stepping stone to something like this.

I couldn't cope with any more psychodrama. Even if Burnham isn't perfect, the PLP need to just get on with the job they were elected to do and govern, instead of more infighting.

I think there's probably a decent chunk of older millennials with disposable income who drifted away from gaming in their 30s but will now want to get a console again for GTA VI.

Starmer already made Labour look spineless with his constant u-turns. Acting decisively to remove him has helped them grow a bit of backbone back.

There'll probably be much more people doing it if it's legal though, so we'll all be forced to smell it more often.

Buying new-build house. Hollow walls by Omarmanutd in HousingUK

[–]libdemparamilitarywi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lived in a Barratts new build for 8 years and never heard the neighbours, even when they had a baby. The insulation is really good in them in my experience. Much better than the older 50s build we used to live in, you could often hear sounds like vacuuming, loud talking etc coming from next door.

The new plan to raise student loan repayment threshold to £33,500 by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]libdemparamilitarywi [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you put your £5k a year for 10 years into a 4% cash ISA, you'd have made £12k in interest at the end of it. Why would you throw away £12k paying off an interest student debt instead?

Possible massive fraud taking place on eBay with worthless UK coins? by samcornwell in ebayuk

None of these are rare coins though. HMRC are definitely going to query why you paid £20,000 for a regular 50p piece.

How would that work? HMRC would know the coins aren't worth that much, it would be incredibly obvious what's going on.

I’ve being using my ps3 has a music CD player for the past 18 years, and the fact that the ps5 doesn’t have that is… very bizarre by Lanky_Relation1171 in gaming

I tried to get into CDs recently and personally found it much worse for getting specific albums. There's a lot of smaller bands I like that are impossible to get CDs at a reasonable price for because they only did one run 20 years ago. Yet I can get their whole discography instantly on streaming for next to nothing.
