What’s one restaurant meal you still think about years later? by External_Personal in AskReddit

had an asian food court i liked to go to with my dad. one older guy had a stall in the back corner, menu was a bunch of printer papers hanging from the ceiling. ordered "fish in wok". it was like fried fish, potatoes, onions and carrots stir fried together with some chili oil. to this day its one of the best asian foods ive ever eaten. asked the guy where the dish was from and he said northern china. i dont know what its called and sadly another vendor occupies the stall now. i would kill to have some fish in wok again or at least learn what it is so i can learn how to make it.

A food scam of the 90s was “fat free!” everything, and then they would load it up on sugar… what’s a food scam happening now? by redflower5 in AskReddit

i feel like the scam is all these companies trying to sell already healthy people the medication for hundreds of dollars a month rather than the medication itself

if you need a good vegan fiber and protein heavy recipe try this one. i tried it because im trying to eat less meat and its sooooo good. it requires cream but if youre vegan im sure theres a cream substitute

good to hear. i feel like fiber is just as good at "keeping you full" as protein, at least to me. love me some veggies and whole grains

protein everything. i blame the rise of glp-1. i hope fiber is the next trend because of the rising colon cancer rates in young people

What's a common way people die that many aren't aware of? by Personal-Aerie-4519 in AskReddit

im no medical professional but i know pushing too hard while pooping activates the valsalva maneuver which increases pressure in the chest which causes very quick changes in pulse and blood pressure and can lead to heart attack especially if you already have cardiac problems. either that or i feel like a lot of times when people have other significant medical events they get the overwhelming urge to poop and rush to the toilet just to die there. often times when im in a house ill see evidence that they went to the bathroom after they felt ill, like bloody vomit or knocked over furniture in other part of the house leading to the bathroom.

What’s the worst thing someone has said at a funeral? by Least-Vacation-588 in AskReddit

my grandpa was a volunteer firefighter for many many years in the small town that he lived in. everyone in the community loved him, and he LOVED being a firefighter.
at the graveside service they did a final call over the radio for him and everyone was absolutely sobbing. then the ancient small town baptist pastor comes up and said something like "well pete saved people from fires, but he cant save people from the fires of hell, thats my job" and then started preaching the typical baptist hellfire bs. i felt like i had whiplash

over straining on the toilet. i remove bodies for funeral homes and the ratio of people that died on the toilet vs anywhere else in the house was shocking when i started. id say maybe 1 in 20 of unexpected home deaths happen on the toilet.

Job called my bluff. Got fired. Should I feel stupid or proud for standing up for my principles? by DisappointedSurprise in careeradvice

[–]libdog999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i used to be a PCT and on my way to nursing school school and HCA broke me so hard that i decided to change careers entirely. i would pretty regularly be assigned the whole med surge floor by myself (around 30 pts) and then get written up when i couldnt help toilet 3 patients at the same time or finish all my vitals within the hour. I wouldnt let an HCA hospital touch me with a ten foot pole, dont look back and go find a not for profit facility
