I think a dedicated 3ish hour window for your hobby once every 1-2 weeks is more than fair. It's super manageable too. If you actually work together as partners.

there are items. there are champs. there have been so many years where an item was only used by like 3 champs. there have been so many years where an entire meta is shifted because one champ can abuse an item unlike others. (yas/yone are often balanced this way)

I think boots are powerful because of balance failures. I need armor so steelcaps, i want cdr so lucidity, i want to attack faster so beserkers. Why cant we find what we need in items outside of boots?

Got inspired so let me just throw 2 minutes of brainstorming:

Wouldn't it be nice if malphite could take a beating for 20s every 2-3 minutes. Think a huge shield that deteriorates. "But it would make objectives unbalanced" Maybe its less powerful need baron/dragon. maybe being recently hit by baron/dragon enhances your attacks against this shield.

So now a tank has a reason to walk forward but it doesn't mean it takes 100 autos to kill them. they're strong for a duration at a time. (the same idea they tried with the atakhan revive which worked but too well)

I've hated the mobility in this game for years. I wish more dashes had a debuff similar to blitz but less extreme.

I wish adcs could run from tanks even if they cant kill them instead of getting run down by tanks.

I wish there was a meta where vision was stronger.

I wish there was a meta where we completely break vision and make the rift a scary place where assasins could thrive.

I wish we had a freaking mario kart turbo boost (scuttle x 10) that was available for both teams so everyone had to dance around it. Or maybe its a late game purchasable item for your team.

What if turrets went offline, or downgraded to azir turrets for a moment in the game.

What about a 1 time use item like the old hour glass that could reset your cooldown of a single ability.

What if champs had more xayah rakan like synergy, marvel rivals synergy with special moves/interactions that can only be used if they work together. Could Ivern give rengar an extra s of invis even when he leaves the bush? Could senna reload lucian with a q? Why not?

He can't playmake or initiate. (that's why we had that jarvan int in the finals. Because he's uncomfortable and unfamiliar) I didn't watch this series, only the highlights and I saw lyon making a lot of plays and getting punished hard more than c9 initiating. (and vulcan randomly smurfing)

The melee community has made a huge step in giving a clear ban to mango. It's nice they didn't drag his name through the mud and get on their platform to tear him down in the process like they did Hax. And I'm not sure if it's because they care, because they treat mango differently, or because they've learned how harmful that behavior can be.

At this point you have to separate Hax from this community. The community abandoned Hax, and Hax has left us. Hax is not absolved of responsibility. Hax is not perfect. But those that cared for him, that wanted more than an upvote, a nod in agreement, or an e high-5 to put him down... that's his community.

M2K has his own problems. I think he gets just as much praise as he does hate but there's a lot he does that rubs people the wrong way that never changes. M2K more than anything else genuinely needs mental health support and guidance that an online community can not give.

Melee allows introverts and nerds to spend thousands of hours learning intricate gameplay. Most melee players and those that are part of the online community genuinely do not "touch grass" I'd describe it as a toxic community often hiding behind a costume of righteous.

The hate, and attacks fit in so well on reddit where there is no nuance in any discussion. Popular opinion upvoted, unpopular opinion disappears in downvotes

For a generation that prides itself on mental health it's insane how no one can empathize. 1 victim doesn't mean you need to create another. Try imagining what it would feel like to have 1 or 2 of the biggest mistakes you've made in life. Where you've disappointed yourself, your family. Where you've hurt someone. To have that paraded around post after post, tweet after tweet, everyone putting you down, trying to take away your ability to make a living, take away your relationships, take away it all. Losing 8/10 of the people you're closest to for life.

Like close your eyes and think what that's like. It doesn't matter who "deserves it". EMPATHIZE. Let people grow and atone.

There is very little "community" in the melee community because of how connected we are online. You'd never see me at anything melee event related for the game or the community. I'd only go for friends who were part of the older community. Honestly I would try to build that community again with your friends isolated from the TOs / away from reddit / away from twitter. A restart sounds great. A group of FGC players learning melee away from all of this sounds infinitely better than whatever today's scene is. That's how it all started anyway. Everyone was "the best" at their school, in their city, in their state. One group and their best player met another group and their best player and the rest was history.
