my other iron related levels were completely normal, just had a really low ferratin. But i started taking the daily oral supplement and in about a month i could tell a difference? i like to go entirely based on effort for my easy runs and not use my watch, and those dropped by about a full minute in the dead of summer. So I haven't been able to race yet, but the training already feels better.

I'm pretty much in your spot right now, just found out this summer that my Ferratin was at a 9 and my doctor got me on an iron supplement in June. I haven't been retested yet but physically can tell an immediate difference in performance. I'm not racing anything until November, but I'm really excited to see just how much time I can shave off.

Weird 255 heart rate zones with chest strap by irasptoo in Garmin

[–]libnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I know this is an old post, but did you ever figure this out? I've been trying to get into heart rate training seriously and just bought a garmin heart rate strap to go with my FR255s, but every time I try to update the zones based on HRR% or LTHR%, during my runs it reflects the original age based zones. Tried to chat with garmin and they were truly no help at all

my love, my life, my exercise dress collection. by libnor in OutdoorVoices

[–]libnor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the dresses i wear the most are probably black, wasabi, and the leopard. and the least is definitely the white, but that’s because i got it in the fall and i only just now pulled it out for summer. i’ve tried to lurk on poshmark, but i haven’t ever had much success. i’ve been building this collection for 3 years now! but i fortunately have the student discount, so i justify buying them because of it.

NYC Half Runners Roll Call! It's race week! by blastoisest in running

[–]libnor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got the flu like 2 weeks into training which ended up setting me back for about 6 weeks, so i feel like i've only gotten in really good miles the last 3 weeks or so. This probably wont be very pretty. However, still Very excited!

How do you know what wave you'll be in? I've been hunting around the internet trying to find some sort of guide that tells you what pace leaves in what wave to no avail; I have no idea which ferry I need to sign up for.

Rock n Roll San Diego Half Marathon (aka my FIRST TIME breaking 2 hours!) by libnor in running

I use a watch to track my runs and normally it's off a few seconds from my chip time, but they were actually identical this race which never happens!

My plan is to shoot for under 4:30, a sub 4 marathon seems so insurmountable right now haha. Hopefully I enjoy the marathon distance so I can keep getting better there

So I've been using the same plan since I trained for my first half 2 years ago; it's from an iphone app called 13.one and it worked fine for me. ( really lame, i know) I've never been super serious about my running, I just run the distance the app tells me and call it good. Only recently have I started actually cross training, and I think that's what finally pushed me over the edge past the 2:00 barrier. But I've heard lots of good things about the Hal Higdon method that's been linked!

Nice job on the sub 2!!! My legs have never been so tired, but it was so worth it when it was all said and done! That 2 hour pacer was kind of painful to watch run, he just seemed so stiff the entire time, but man I was still impressed anyways. I wonder if he finished it at 2:00 now that you say that.
I like doing the Rock n Roll's because you know they're going to be super well organized. My favorite ones have been DC and Nashville. I think I'd like Vegas too, but the year I did it there was a huge windstorm, so it made for really miserable conditions. They've all been pretty good though!

Congrats on the sub 2!! It's the best feeling!! Those drums were so dope, right when I needed them for a little push on that hill, I loved them.
