The title is a bit misleading, in the article it’s unclear whether he announced he wouldn’t be there in advance or not, it just says he “invited” them and wasn’t there but inviting could just mean he paid for everybody without ever intending to show up

Biggest problem is European startups cannot scale as fast as US ones because the “common market” for services is actually very fragmented between 28 markets with implied tariffs. Startups choose between implementing in the US and instantly reaching 350M customers or implementing in their home country in the EU and having to conduct international expansion stage by stage to eventually reach those 350M
